Re: KMART 2013 STORE CLOSINGS
There's one (I think) closing in the Albany (NY) area - the store at Central & 155 for anyone familiar with the area. Of course, the ads simply state total inventory blowout, there's nothing on the outside of the store itself with any words like closing or going out of business (a few signs by t...

Re: New WinCo private label program?
It will be interesting to see if they replace some of the vague "brands" they have been carrying with this new private label. I've never heard of Santiam Canned Vegetables or Polar (product of CHINA) Canned Pears/Peaches/Fruit Cocktail, until WinCo. I've seen the Polar label here in NY, a...

Re: Restaurants using Coca-Cola "Freestyle" machines
Moe's have them as well (they have for a while - I think they might have been a "test" group for them). Haven't noticed them at any other locations locally, but it's possible. Not sure if they would be as likely to show up in many full service places, since it would be harder to advertise ...

Re: Walgreens Ad Now Bilingual
I noticed about a couple of months ago that the Walgreens ad quietly went English and Spanish. The Spanish words are printed in a smaller size, but it is still noticeable. Is this a nationwide thing or is it just limited to California? California has a large Spanish speaking population overall, but...

Re: 1st CVS/Pharmacy in Washington?
[quote="Super S] Rite Aid may seem firmly entrenched. However, they have been very spotty with rebuilding/remodeling the acquired former PayLess/Pay 'N Save locations. There are a few that, 15+ years after being acquired by Rite Aid, are still open and still have not been remodeled in any way, ...

Re: Dunkin' Donut Unveils New Restaurant Design
The only major donut chain in California is Krispy Kreme and those stores are few and far between. That's their standard operations, except maybe in a few areas of the South where they have been for decades. Even here in NY, when they were here for a bit, they had ONE store in the whole Albany area...

Re: Albertsons Officially Reunited!
I was looking on the Jewel-Ocso website and they have now gotten rid of their card and have adopted the "You're in For Something Fresh" tagline. Shaw's has not done that yet. Acme has stopped requiring the cards (as of the end of last week) and it appears that Shaw's will do so starting t...

Re: Safeway Store Computer Failure
It shouldn't be that hard to work without the registers and such. I happened to be in the Watertown (NY) area about 10 years ago, and stopped into a P&C. Something had happened in the shopping plaza that knocked out the power to the plaza (including knocking one of the local TV stations which ha...

Re: Kmart 6PM weekday closing time?
Ours all still have 8-9 or 8-10 daily, though several now close at 7 on Sunday. Is it possible that it's only a temporary change (given that you noted the lack of population in the wintertime) - perhaps they'll go back to longer hours in the summer? Also - if you type in Coos Bay, OR in the kmart st...

Re: Save Mart installing new pinpads
Also, when Raleys takes a signature on the screen, the register prints out a copy of the draft and your signature and the cashier takes that form and puts it into their drawer. Makes it look high tech that you sign the screen, but you may as well have just signed a paper slip... I know I've seen th...
