Re: Rite Aid Store Closings
I work in a pharmacy. For some reason some California Rite Aid prescription pharmacies do business under the name of Thrifty. The insurance company uses Thrifty as the pharmacy name instead of Rite Aid. It's similar to liquor licenses where some Albertsons are still Lucky Stores and so on. It's all...

Re: Loblaw Cos. launches "No Name" discount grocery store
Reading again I see it will have frozen but won't have refrigerated. I find that to be a bit odd. I assume they will have frozen due to the amount of thaw and sell bread type items sold in Canada and they decided they need a space to keep those so they can add in some other random items since the f...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
So I've been visiting a lot of the closing Stop & Shop stores when I can, and most recently got to go to some of the locations on Long Island and in CT and MA. They're well on their way to closure -- a few had already closed service departments and all had started clearing out the shelves (alth...

Re: Speedway/7-Eleven integration
Maverik heavily pushes its Nitro program which also gives .10 off per gallon and links to a checking account, also a couple of $1 everyday drink promotions. EG Group also has a SmartPay Rewards Program that I assume was lifted out of Cumberland Farms and rolled out throughout their chain, which fun...

Re: Speedway/7-Eleven integration
Also when using Speedy Rewards for fuel at least at this location still on Radiant Speedway POS system the fuel discount was .05 per gallon (not the .11 per gallon I seem to get in California). Since the fuel price was only 2.89 to begin with I'm not complaining... Seems that may vary in different ...

Re: Redbox?
The scary part is that if you rent a disc, it will keep charging your card for a nightly rental even though there might not be a working machine to return it to. It will drain your credit card. Not likely, since once you see the fraudulent charges, you'd let the card company know and they would can...

Re: Redbox?
There was a post somewhere about a machine that was SELLING movies for like $3.99 (which would kind of make sense, much like any going out of business sale).

Re: Stop & Shop closes all delis
Yes, this is old news and all the delis have been reopened (at least all the delis I've seen in stores). A couple other chains have also closed certain delis -- for instance, some ShopRites sell Boar's Head and some don't, and I saw at least one ShopRite close and clean the deli and then reopen it....

Re: Grocery Outlet-Inventory levels
Reno has a major event each year involving old classic cars called Hot August nights. The casinos with flat parking lots exhibit the cars and vendors set up booths around this area. Many of the vendors are ready to eat food or car related (companies like Summit Racing) but there were a few that wer...

Re: Walmart Employee Stabbed to Death over Locked Cabinets
I don't think it would be that difficult for Wal Mart to re-configure the Supercenter entry/exit situation. Basically you turn both current doors into an entrance only. Period. Then they'd need to demolish the wall at some spot around the middle of the front end and install a new exit there. They'd...
