Re: Walgreens plans to close 200 stores

I wonder if any of the acquired (but as yet renamed) Rite Aid stores are among this number or will it just be strictly Walgreen's bannered outlets. Speaking of which, that acquired Rite Aid store I mentioned a while ago as having the Walgreen's pharmacy closing did indeed close its doors shortly af...

Re: Sprint Closures

However, people seem to have a need for a physical store where they can talk to people face to face with concerns. Eliminating stores would decrease confidence in a cell phone company. People would feel helpless if they needed help right away. Their phone is their lifeline. They need it to call for...

Re: Walgreen's closing Rite Aid distribution center in Spartanburg County, South Carolina

What is also interesting is that while they "shrunk" those stores, in one location here they bought an existing Rite Aid (that began as an Eckerd) and remodeled that store, then closed their own existing Walgreens location. What makes it more interesting is that this particular Walgreens was a small...

Re: Portland, Ore. receiving first stand-alone CVS Pharmacy

OK, that makes sense that it's what the insurance wants to pay for, and also that they would allow it elsewhere in some cases (or perhaps they just make it sound like they won't figuring most people won't bother to check further and that way they'll get to keep most of the business).

Re: Kroger: Fee for cash back with PIN Debit at some locations

One of the chains here (Price Chopper/Market 32 - NY based) has charged a fee for quite some time - I was able to find a comment from 2010, and it may be even further back than that. Interesting, so this is perhaps a more common practice than I thought. I guess I use Debit so rarely (WinCo...) and ...

Re: Portland, Ore. receiving first stand-alone CVS Pharmacy

I have to wonder though why they don't try a little harder on making stores presentable when you consider that they also run the pharmacies inside Target. If CVS is really as bad as everybody says they are, people would just migrate to the local Target for their prescriptions. I'd suspect some peop...

Re: Walgreen's closing Rite Aid distribution center in Spartanburg County, South Carolina

Walgreen's is closing Rite Aid's distribution center in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Operations will transfer to Walgreen's distribution center in Anderson County, South Carolina. The distribution center was among three and 1,932 stores Walgreen's acquired from Walgreen's in 2017. It opened ...

Re: Oregon and SW Washington UFCW Union May Strike

As to if there should be a wage gap between departments in a retail store is debatable. For example a non-foods or HBA Clerk or stocker has the same responsibilities and roles as a grocery or produce counterpart. The one difference might be that most non-foods items aren't going to be as time sensi...

Re: Consumer Reports' Supermarket Rankings

Four of the top five are expensive specialty stores. Trader Joe's is just in a class by themselves. People say they like one thing but in reality most people vote with their wallets. Perhaps that applies to three of the top 5 (since only 2 of them can be found in this part of the US) but not the 4t...
