Re: Marathon to acquire Andeavor (Tesoro)

I was impressed with the Speedy Freeze flavor selection. They had an Orange Creme flavor that was quite good. I will definitely return. Ever since ARCO discontinued the Orange Whip drink, I have searched convenience stores all over to find something like it. Finally, I have found a suitable replace...

Re: McDonald's drive thru setup

The strangest one I've seen is in the McDonald's at Third and Pine in Downtown Seattle, which has no drive thru (being an urban location), but has a walk-up ordering window facing the outside of the building which requires a conveyor system which carries orders from the kitchen over the soda founta...

Re: Tabletop tablets in chain restaurants

However, many chain restaurants have moved away from having a central cash register at a counter and take payment at a table. Which works when well staffed. However, I distinctly remember a time when I ate at an Applebee's and was ready to pay with cash. After ten minutes of waitresses walking by I...

Re: Oregon AFL-CIO sponsors ballot initiative to severely restrict self checkouts

Remember that Oregon is one of only two states (the other being New Jersey) where self-serve gasoline is prohibited. There are, however, some rural counties where self serve is permitted during certain hours of the day. Although, if I'm not mistaken, that is a fairly recent change (compared to most...

Re: McDonald's drive thru setup

I also recall the 1990s era built McDonald's in my area would have three windows as well, but all three were on the kitchen side. Don't ever recall all three windows ever being used however. I believe this may have been a setup where one would place their order at the first window, pay at second an...

Re: Walgreens plans to close 200 stores

I wonder if any of the acquired (but as yet renamed) Rite Aid stores are among this number or will it just be strictly Walgreen's bannered outlets. Speaking of which, that acquired Rite Aid store I mentioned a while ago as having the Walgreen's pharmacy closing did indeed close its doors shortly af...

Re: Sprint Closures

However, people seem to have a need for a physical store where they can talk to people face to face with concerns. Eliminating stores would decrease confidence in a cell phone company. People would feel helpless if they needed help right away. Their phone is their lifeline. They need it to call for...

Re: Walgreen's closing Rite Aid distribution center in Spartanburg County, South Carolina

What is also interesting is that while they "shrunk" those stores, in one location here they bought an existing Rite Aid (that began as an Eckerd) and remodeled that store, then closed their own existing Walgreens location. What makes it more interesting is that this particular Walgreens was a small...

Re: Portland, Ore. receiving first stand-alone CVS Pharmacy

OK, that makes sense that it's what the insurance wants to pay for, and also that they would allow it elsewhere in some cases (or perhaps they just make it sound like they won't figuring most people won't bother to check further and that way they'll get to keep most of the business).

Re: Kroger: Fee for cash back with PIN Debit at some locations

One of the chains here (Price Chopper/Market 32 - NY based) has charged a fee for quite some time - I was able to find a comment from 2010, and it may be even further back than that. Interesting, so this is perhaps a more common practice than I thought. I guess I use Debit so rarely (WinCo...) and ...
