Re: Target Registers Fail Nationwide

... Of course, they could just provide each guest with paper and pencil and have them write prices of each item from the shelf, but maybe that would be too Mom & Pop (or at least small chain - a supermarket did that once when their power was out, using the limited backup power for cold stuff and a ...

Re: Target Registers Fail Nationwide

These systems are far from fool proof. It is interesting Target did not have a back up mode or offline mode that would allow transactions to keep processing. But that causes a lot of problems as inventory tracking, pricing, etc. would not be available. Also it is strange timing for this to happen, ...

Re: Amazon Go

I continue to find it very ironic that a city will tell a privately owned retail business what forms of payment it must accept. However that same city is perfectly fine with a privately owned bridge (Golden Gate Bridge) that is cashless and will not accept cash payments. Why is the cashless bridge ...

Re: Rite Aid Liquor Store

Maybe something in their rules (no clue was they are in MD, but some states can have odd things in there) or possibly something in their lease that would keep others in that plaza from getting permission to sell liquor items (which they might want to keep to prevent competition for their newer store...

Re: Ahold Delhaize to roll out Nature's Promise line to all banners

What exactly are they doing with Food Lion? It is a joke in the Mid Atlantic region compared to either of the Giants (PA or MD). Higher prices, inferior stores, shorter hours, no self checkout, laughably bad bakery/deli. Also noticed Food Lion has its own private label on grocery, different point o...

Re: A Lidl too spread out?

Bakery is a bit of a hassle at checkout as every single item has its own PLU. As in, chocolate chip cookies is a different PLU from sugar cookie, every single donut frosting type has its own PLU, etc. I remember reading that one of the donut places did that also (thinking Krispy Kreme probably). It...

Re: Save Mart "temporary closure" Reno, NV Keystone Ave.

I hate to sound this way, but with a name like "Save Mart" I'm not expecting much more than cleanliness and product that has not expired or spoiled. Given they closed the store temporarily, I'm wondering if they were staying one step ahead of the local health department and/or there was a risk that...

Re: Signs of trouble at Target?

The sodas and Icees were very affordable and it was nice to have a drink while shopping. It just will not be the same. At least one Target here (which started with just a store food court, no Pizza Hut or other brands) was re-done a while back as Starbucks, but still has the soda machine (and I'm t...

Re: Rite Aid Conversions or Closings

It does seem to be somewhat confusing. For example here in NY (where a bit less than 1/2 the stores were sold to Walgreens), waited until November to convert another store (which is RIGHT NEXT DOOR, across a side street from an existing Walgreens) but have not (as of yet) converted other Rite Aids ...

Re: Kroger sells Turkey Hill brand

No reason they couldn't sell off the brand but still carry the items. While it may have been owned by a retailer, we have lots of Turkey Hill items in stores up here in NY where there is no Kroger related store anywhere nearby.
