Re: Quiznos Expanding With 30 New Restaurants
Playing with their website, they're down to two locations each in the Atlanta and Dallas areas. One in Chicagoland. None in the NYC area. The Denver-area has 5 locations, including one at the airport. Most of their locations appear to be in rural towns, airports & gas stations. The airport and ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Some lock shelves now in place at Truckee Rite Aid in laundry detergent and some other random places, similar to South Lake Tahoe. Given how understaffed these stores are this is not a good idea at all. Would be better to move all items that they think need to be locked behind the front checkout co...

Re: Coupons wtf?
Yeesh, manufacturers. :'( Maybe your local newspaper's print house has cut back so much on staffing that they are incorrectly inserting coupons ahead of their 'on sale' date? I would imagine most of these glossy inserts are proofed and printed and delivered well in advance of most local print produ...

Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location
As Wegmans gets further from its base or areas that have knowledge of them, people aren't going to want to shop a NY state grocer that is located in NC or SC or TN. I might suspect that they are opening in those states (at least a limited amount of stores) with the intention of capturing those who ...

Re: New anti-theft Walgreens store has just 2 aisles of touchable merchandise
Lock 100% of every aisle. Give the customers a cheap handheld device/scanner to go through and scan the shelf tag of whatever product they want to buy. Once they are done shopping have employees pick the order, pay for it at a standard register, then they pick your order. This would be very labor i...

Re: Coupons wtf?
What's going on these days with coupons? I (dinosaur) still get a Sunday paper which 3 weeks out of 4 has one or more FSIs (free-standing inserts---i.e. coupons). About every other week I get a duplicate in the junk mail. Generally they're patent medicines, cosmetics and a few other manufacturers (...

Re: Journeys To Close 100 Stores & Grow Off Mall
Reminds me of the Godfather's Pizza in Reno on California Ave. next to a major high school. They decades ago instituted a policy that nobody under 18 could go inside without a parent before 4 PM or something. The high school was open campus so everyone could walk over to that shopping center. A Lit...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
Yes, there was a time where they tried branding the store brand items more generically (though I can't remember the name at the moment) so that they could be used at Hannaford, Food Lion and the other labels they were running at that point (Bottom Dollar and Bloom). The brand was 'My Essentials'. I...

Re: Journeys To Close 100 Stores & Grow Off Mall
The company will close 100 stores and expand the number of off-mall stores. Without the mall stores, how will anyone even notice this chain? I don't think teens will go out of their way to find a Journeys store outside of a mall. Do teens even go to malls anymore? You took the words right out of my...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Based on what I'm reading in the RAD investors reddit, EVP/CFO Matt Schroeder(a Bob Miller holdover that has risen through to the ranks) clearly isn't getting the credit he deserves for keeping the company around this long. They're not even cutting the caretaker CEO any slack, the short sellers/fake ...
