Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Also still has Halloween merchandise for sale 75% off and Christmas merchandise for sale 60% off. Pretty sure that stuff was supposed to be pulled long ago. I guess nobody cares in this store. Not surprising, as ours had Easter items (just plastic eggs and that fake grass as I remember) for 75% off...

Re: Micro Center opening 3 new stores in 2023
Here's another way to look at the situation: Circuit City brought in $12B a year at bankruptcy and Best Buy was at $55B a year. In the 12 months after Circuit City finished liquidation Best Buy staffed up, rushed new stores, and even took over many Circuit City Store locations to capture share. The...

Re: Micro Center opening 3 new stores in 2023
The problem that many electronics chains that didn't carry appliances experienced is that not only did prices decline 75% or more on categories like TVs and computers (meaning you had to quadruple traffic to break even) but the sizes of the units shrank. Seems like it would depend on what they are ...

Re: Walmart 2023 Closings
Some of these things could be addressed in a Sam's Club format, which restricts entry to begin with. Do they actually do that? I may have been in one once or twice, but not recently. BJ's that we have here did that when they first started, but now only check people leaving, no one checks for a card...

Re: Walmart 2023 Closings
I would add additional security and apprehend shoplifters more frequently. Problem is, if the police won't respond, what good is an apprehension? I would also set up a way where there would be no way to get to the return area from inside the store. Returns would basically be a window out front and ...

To de-politicize things, two more acquired RAD locations are biting the dust: a Montgomery,Alabama location that was a Harco or K&B(article say K&B but my intuition tells me Harco since it was Alabama-based before RAD acquired it and K&B as it was integrating the ThriftyPayless acquisiti...

Re: Is "SuperTarget" making a comeback?
Target should have been able to get perimeter departments in the quality of Meijer. Yet their perimeter departments are the worst of any supercenter format ever and it has been this way basically from the time Super Target started. I find their perimeter/fresh program in Super Target more limited i...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
I found the website that you found that shows Kroger around 3% pharmacy market share and Albertsons around 1% pharmacy market share. That website also says CVS has 25% pharmacy market share. And Rite Aid has 2.4% pharmacy market share. Do you really think those numbers are accurate? Kroger runs (we...

EXCELLENT enforcement! Of the STUPIDEST rule in the world! If someone knows how to use the self checkout, they can scan 10 items or 100 - it simply DOES NOT MATTER! First, it makes sense to stop the giant baskets from getting through without being paid for. Second, these self checks only have space...
