Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
I have not noticed or encountered any expired or soon to be expired products at any "mainstream" stores in my area (including Target, Pavilions, Vons, Ralphs). I ALWAYS find this in these price impact stores like Dollar General, 99 Cent, etc. I also found some at Sprouts an Trader Joes. T...

Re: Wawa CEO: There is no "Gentlemen's agreement" with Sheetz
Out here in NV the Cumberland Farms unit (Quik Stop) is now at 1.49 for a small 12oz coffee and 2.29 for the Extra Large (24oz I think). These prices are still pretty competitive with other gas stations but nobody is buying coffee there anymore. They probably should have tried 1.39 any size and bee...

Re: Ace Hardware?
Then you get a few areas where towns are still small enough that the bigger brands simply don't want to open there, and thus the Ace (or True Value) is a great asset. People may still go to the bigger chains when they are near one (or if they can't find exactly what they are looking for in the small...

Re: What's Office Depot's future
LOW RENT. That is why those stores survive. Rural area rents are very low. A slow, low volume store in small town USA that pays very little rent many times is more profitable than the busy big volume store in the big city that pays big rent. So "how are they doing" is too basic a question...

Probably not so much enforcement by requiring them to build, more likely that if it was provable that there would be fines or similar to punish them for keeping competition from existing. Probably not that easy to prove, as even if they did state that somewhere that was recorded (not likely, partic...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
For some reason the GNC.com website is now selling a bunch of Rite Aid brand vitamins. This may not seem unusual since GNC has had a contract to supply Rite Aid brand vitamins for decades now. But this is very recent the GNC.com sells Rite Aid vitamins. Also most/all of these are "out of stock...

Which seems kind of odd, since they have been known to pay their regular employees more than many stores (likely since they are doing more work, being out in the store if not needed at cashier stations, for example). Is that still the case? Do they still pay higher than other stores... based on wha...

Re: CA Senate Bill 478- "Junk fees" bill
What concerns me is how "credit card surcharges" will be impacted by this or IF they will be impacted. I am seeing credit card surcharges at far too many restaurants and even seeing them at some smaller retailers as of late. They are "legal" - and you don't have to pay with a cr...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Not sure if they still do or not, but Price Chopper (Market 32) based here in NY did at one point have such a fee for cash back with a debit card. As far as I remember, they were the only ones that ever did that in this area. That is a chain who started charging bag fees before they were legally ma...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Dollar Tree and Family Dollar also charge some kind of fee for cash back. I'm not sure how it works at Dollar General or if they even offer cash back. I agree however the .75 cash back fee for a simple $20 etc. of cash back at these Kroger banners is unacceptable. I have been surprised no other gro...
