Re: Albertsons plans for "Plated"
The secret to making meal kits work is to keep the preparation simple. Sprouts has a line that I've tried with a prep time of 10 minutes. That's about right. The concepts that failed were too complicated and time consuming. In addition to the Plated kits when they were available at more stores bein...

Not sure what that license action "perta per" is... https://www.abc.ca.gov/licensing/license-types/ It appears they are trying to transfer a surrendered license into this store... https://www.abc.ca.gov/licensing/license-lookup/single-license/?RPTTYPE=12&LICENSE=614282 Meanwhile their...

Re: Ralph's Manchester & Western
Did you notice if the store was currently selling liquor? Seems strange that they would be applying for an initial off-sell liquor license for this old store. Yes, they are currently selling liquor, both wine and hard liquor. Maybe the Boy's license expired for this location or, they had to re-appl...

Ralph's Manchester & Western
I visited this store recently and found the sign the in window interesting. As far as I know, this store was a Boy's then Ralphs. I don't recall it being an Alphabeta. I'm assuming since Yucaipa owned Boy's and Alphabeta at the time, this was a "spun off" company for the SoCal division? St...

Re: Macy’s 2020
Macy's seems to be continuing its path to being a much smaller chain. At this rate Dillard's will be the last department store chain standing in another couple of years. I am very curious how they seem to have turned on San Francisco. First they closed the Men's Store, then they closed the store in...

Re: New Build Pavilions La Quinta Coming in 2021
I'm glad Albertson's is doing something with the Pavilions format that Safeway ignored. It's interesting they are putting a fuel center though...that seems a little "low budget" for the Pavilions brand.
I'm not familiar with this area but having a Fresh Fare, I'm assuming it's well off.

Re: McGrath's Fish House
Looking at the menu, reviews and pictures, this is one place I would have gone to repeatedly. It looks like they opened a location in California about 15 years ago but was never well known. It was located in a busy and popular mall that caters to (it does now, not sure if it did in 2005). I'm hoping...

Pak 'n Save
I recently have been looking online at pictures of the Pak 'n Save chain in NorCal and noticed they are basically a Safeway in all but name. The prices seem to mirror Safeway along with amenities. What exactly is the point of this chain? I don't think they have opened any new locations in years. I'v...

Re: Smart & Final Extra
What is with Ralphs pricing on HBA? They had that same "way out of range" pricing back when they were in NorCal too. Is it theft they are trying to cover? I notice Vons pricing on the HBA category is similarly "way out of range." I don't get it. I feel Ralphs and Vons think of t...

Re: Walmart Supercenter Branding
At point, I think the Supercenter designation was reserved mostly for stores will full-service grocery departments, including service deli and bakery. At some point I think that was reduced to just stores will full grocery departments with or without service delis. For example, the Bellevue Walmart...
