Albertson/Vons/Pavilions Pricing

I went to Albertson's, Vons and Pavilions tonight and pricing is much different across these banners. Albertson's had a foot long deli sandwich for $5, Vons had them at $7.99 and Pavilions had them at $14.99??? The Albertsons version used Dietz and Watson or Primo Taglio (it wasn't labeled), Vons us...

Re: IHOP Struggles

IHOP is struggling because they aren't open long enough. There have been many times I crave IHOP for dinner but they are closed? WHY??? If you see Denny's getting your business, why wouldn't you stay open longer? IHOP is digging it's own grave by not staying open longer. Most IHOPs in SoCal close at...

Re: Pavilions?

The one in Arcadia, which I think was the second store, was either an expansion or replacement of a store in the same plaza. The layout was an odd mix of warehouse store ambience (very minimalist decor and display) mixed with upscale center store areas and expanded produce. The sit down area was sm...

Re: Pavilions?

I call out Safeway because in the late 90's/to about 2005 they were by far the best run stores. Now their operation up here in NV is just awful. I can attest to this. When I worked at Pavilions in Weho in the early 2000's, service was considered "world class" by corporate. We we literally had servi...

Re: Pavilions?

That conversion really surprises me. AH is a very upscale and nice area. A VONS does not fit the demographic there at all. As for the conversions to VONS from Pavilions, some were not needed. Arcadia: It's a toss up for this store. It's in a decent area but it seems demographic changes might have be...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

Recently driving around, I noticed a Hometown Buffet removed the "Buffet" signage from the building and now it just says Hometown. I thought maybe their sign went bad and they were switching out but, "buffet" was removed from 3 signs, (2 on the actual building and 1 on the road side sign) Is Hometow...

Re: Bristol Farms (former Vons) Santa Barbara Opening August 20

Vons missed the chance on making this a Pavilions if Bristol Farms works out.

Was there a landlord dispute or is there an Albertsons near by?

Re: Vons store numbers

Hey steps and kikla......... I have a question about the Pavilions in West Hollywood. Have you both seen the most recent remodel? And have you both visited since COVID-19? I have some observations and wanted to compare to your perspectives. I haven't been to WeHo Pavilions in several months. The la...

7-Eleven wins bid to acquire Speedway

Here in SoCal, in the last 1-2 years I've seen 5 new 7-11's open with Sinclair gas stations. Sinclair is a brand I'm not familiar with but the gas is MUCH cheaper than anything near by, sometimes by .40 or more. I've generally noticed the 7-11 here are close by each other (a mile or so apart) but al...
