Re: Retailers ignoring physical locations while pushing online ordering
And then on the opposite side of the spectrum there's Micro Center, which has a website and does actually sell some stuff on there (emphasis on some), but basically every major special they run is available only in physical stores, even on items they also sell on the website.

Re: Nordstrom Flagship Downtown Seattle
My Mom worked at Eddie Bauer corporate for several years back in the late Nineties (back when they were owned by Spiegel and around the time they peaked) and they had a pretty lavish headquarters in Redmond at the time. Sometime after Spiegel's bankruptcy in 2003 (which resulted in the Spiegel catal...

Re: Trader Joe’s to move Everett store to Everett Mall
I used to somewhat regularly shop at that Everett store when I lived there. It's a rather busy store because it is one of only two TJ's stores in Snohomish County (the other is in Lynnwood on Highway 99) and they had nowhere near enough parking in that tiny lot (which they share with a Dollar Tree a...

Re: Amazon Fresh, take 2
People expect low prices from Amazon. Something like a WinCo with some technology and increased selection should be their model going forward. I'd agree, but the people making the decisions here are most likely living in some $1.5 million house in Seattle that they paid cash for from their stock gr...

Re: Tesla starts construction on a diner/drive-in charging station in Los Angeles
They originally wanted to build this in Santa Monica but after running into bureaucratic delays they shifted to the site in Los Angeles and just plopped down a few Superchargers on the originally intended site. There's also the factor of needing to have adequate power infrastructure available since ...

Re: QFC is EXPENSIVE
I know it's on the opposite side of the country, but I suspect if I did price comparisons I would find that Harris Teeter pricing is similar to QFC pricing on some items. I can recall seeing some rather high prices on baked goods the last time I was there (for example, a 6 pack of english muffins is...

Re: Starbucks unions to strike on November 16th
If they were serious about unionizing to improve working conditions they probably would have just gone through an existing union in the first place. The whole thing feels like amateur hour, a bunch of college students fed an endless diet of Socialist Worker / RevCom propaganda on campus seeing this ...

Re: The Commons at Federal Way...declining again?
My uncle is a small business owner in Federal Way and has been serving on the Federal Way city council for almost a full term now (just reelected in the recent general election) and although I don't know a whole lot about the city politics in Federal Way, I do know his platform has heavily emphasize...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact
I think there's a lot of the urban PNW (especially in the Seattle metro area) where the merger would leave basically zero non-Kroger competition besides Whole Foods and a few Asian grocers (There's one Walmart Neighborhood Market in Bellevue and no other Walmart stores anywhere in Seattle or the Eas...
