Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Looking at the listing I see the lease on the Downtown Bellevue store expires at the end of October. I'm guessing that store gets demolished very quickly once the lease expires, even if nothing else goes up in its place.

Walmart+ adds Paramount+ streaming service

https://variety.com/2022/digital/news/paramount-plus-bundled-walmart-plus-1235341749/ Presumably in an effort to make their subscription service more competitive with Amazon Prime, Walmart will be including Paramount+'s Essential plan (with ads and without live CBS streaming, but it does include som...

Re: Red Robin Launches $10 Gourmet Meal Deal

Do they lose money on this $10 meal? It might bring in the customers and then the employees will have to upsell more food. I don't know what their costs would look like, but I'm guessing with a deal like this they would primarily try to make it up with alcohol sales or desserts. I know if I'm makin...

Re: Helium Prices Blowing Up

At the Dollar Tree locations near here they have had "out of helium" signs up for some time now. I wouldn't be surprised if they just discontinue balloons at some point.

Re: Red Robin Launches $10 Gourmet Meal Deal

I've seen email ads for the meal deal, but it seems to be something you have to know about and have to ask for. It seems to cover a limited number of burgers, but does come with a drink and appetizer.

Re: Cracker Barrel closes Portland Jantzen Beach location

Centralia already has a Cracker Barrel type place called Country Cousin on Harrison Avenue that's been around since 1973, so a Cracker Barrel there would be competing with that. I've been there once several years ago, and it's not the type of place I'd go out of my way for but it was decent if you'r...

Re: Church's Texas Chicken

The problem with "discount" chicken is that you're competing with pretty much every grocery store (whose quality varies but they're probably going to beat you on price regardless) and even a lot of gas station C-stores have it now (Krispy Krunchy, Cooper's Express, various unbranded chicke...

Domino's closes all locations in Italy

Re: Kohl's Self Pickup

Home Depot stores have added "lockers" (similar to the Amazon pickup ones) for small order pickup, and I'm surprised more stores haven't adopted that approach. That works well for a screwdriver or a drill, somewhat less so when you order 6 50-pound bags of rocks, so the usefulness can be l...

Re: Cracker Barrel closes Portland Jantzen Beach location

As far as I can tell there are no Cracker Barrel locations in Washington at all, although there are 4 remaining in Oregon, and one in Coeur d'Alene not far from Spokane. I could see spots where a couple of these could go around Moses Lake or Ellensburg on the I-90 corridor, or possibly around the Tr...
