Re: What's left of Haggen

The only store that was a converted Safeway and still a Haggen is Oak Harbor. That one had the conversion decor package when I was in there in 2017. I think they may have had a small dining area, not like the legacy Haggens. It did not seem tremendously busy. Maybe they are doing ok because they are...

Re: What's left of Haggen

Just wondering what is the pricing at Pavillions? Is it much higher than Vons? Since the botched Haggen expansion involved former Safeway and Albertsons, I am not sure that would work unless the price point on items they have in common were the same!! But I keep thinking about the Gig Harbor Safeway...

Re: What's left of Haggen

Today I am in the Woodinville Haggen. Upon checkout the interface with the pin pad was different. It was the same machines that they have had, which is the same as Safeway/Albertsons. But the look and function was slightly different. I found out that they finally went onto the Safeway/Albertsons pla...

Re: Lucerne Dairy Products In Walmart Canada

I should note that since Sobey’s took over Canada Safeway, there is no Lucerne branded cheese but Compliments cheese. But there is Lucerne Ice Cream. But at the Walmart I was at, I only saw liquid dairy with the Lucerne name!

Re: Lucerne Dairy Products In Walmart Canada

In the case of Lucerne Canada, I think Safeway US signed over the rights to Sobey’s. On the carton of 2% milk I bought, it did say that Agropur was using the name under license but the company that held the license had a bunch of numbers as part of the name and “Nova Scotia” as part of the name. So ...

Lucerne Dairy Products In Walmart Canada

I am currently visiting Vancouver, BC. So I was in the Walmart Supercentre at Capilano Mall in North Vancouver. But I saw something very shocking, Lucerne Milk in the dairy case. I know that Sobey’s had acquired the brand rights for Canada when they took over Canada Safeway. I also know it is availa...

Re: Boulevard Park Thriftway and Normandy Park Market Closures.

This has been a tough couple years for independents and small chains... Normandy Park Market is particularly interesting. The operator who just closed was Myers Group. They also run the IGA in Downtown Seattle as well as various other assorted stores in various locations like the IGA in Ocean Shore...

Boulevard Park Thriftway and Normandy Park Market Closures.

Here's an article about the Boulevard Park Thriftway, with a brief mention of the Normandy Park Market: http://b-townblog.com/2019/04/15/b-town-biz-after-60-years-the-boulevard-park-thriftway-will-be-closing-soon/ http://normandyparkblog.com/2019/02/02/city-managers-weekly-report-for-week-ending-feb...

Re: Seattle’s Northgate Mall To Be Redeveloped

Looks like Nordstrom's building is going to be going away. However, Nordstrom has not announced that it is leaving Northgate. So maybe a new store will be built or it could be an opportunity for them to build a new Nordstrom Local store here. The article was in the Puget Sound Business Journal behi...
