Re: Pacific Place Seattle, Ghost Mall

I do think that Bellevue and the Bellevue Collection is eating Downtown Seattle's lunch right now. But if they can make Downtown Seattle's retail/tourism core safe again, that would go a long way. I have predicted Nordstrom leaving downtown, but really hope they can safely stay as it is a draw. But ...

Re: Pacific Place Seattle, Ghost Mall

Looks like Pacific Place will not be turned into a part retail and part office complex:

Re: Starbucks Closes Union Coffee Shop and Transfers It to QFC Grocery Store

There is an interesting history behind the Holman Road QFC. Initially it was an Art's Food Center and Marketime Drugs. Marketime was owned by Fred Meyer and it closed when the nearby Greenwood Fred Meyer was acquired from Leslie's (Weisfield's), Art's took over the whole space and the store became A...

Re: Starbucks Closes Union Coffee Shop and Transfers It to QFC Grocery Store

I know that QFC stores are union. So I am wondering how the benefits compare to corporate Starbucks stores that become union. So I am wondering if this is a wash. Although I am sure that the existing baristas would have to re-apply with QFC.

Re: Kroger QFC Division Has New President

QFC is already mostly run by either Fred Meyer or Kroger in Cincinnati depending on the function. All QFC has left are some buyers to localize the assortment. I'm not really sure how much authority a division president really has beyond a "don't screw this up" mentality. I don't see QFC g...

Re: Market By Macy's Small Format Expanding

I’m wondering if Downtown Seattle got it’s act together, if they could open one in the Pacific Place Mall? It would seem to me that there is a population that could support it. But will Downtown Seattle ever be safe again? University Village 2oild be a more likely location in central Seattle. Side ...

Starbucks Closing Some Stores Nationwide Due To Safety

Starbucks is also closing some stores in the Puget Sound area for the same reason. This includes the iconic triangular shaped store in the plaza in front of Westlake Center! Back in the day this was a very busy high profile store! They might as well tear that building down as it is more suited for a...

Is Fast Food Indoor Dining Dying?

One of the effects of COVID is the slowness of some fast food operators to re-open their dining rooms! I'll be honest, I'm put off if I am forced to use a drive-thru as often there are long lines. Once you are in, you're stuck! Some places do let you in for a "to go" order, so that is slig...
