What will happen to the retail section of these stores-which is 2/3rds of the building? I find it odd because the...

Re: Burger King's Restaurant Of Tomorrow

The truth is the restaurant biz was changing even before the virus. The beginning of “ghost kitchens” , consolidation of owners, fewer and smaller locations and on-line ordering/delivery started well before the sickness and it just forced their hands

Re: Burger King's Restaurant Of Tomorrow

Maybe they need to go back to their original 50s-60s designs, with a few modern twists. That BK design will turn into a hothouse in warmer climates

Some of us remember Pancho’s Mexican Buffet in the Southwest...your first round was down the aisle cafeteria style....you wanted more at your table-“just run up the flag”

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

I have a feeling that the QSRs maybe going back to the original fast food format of the 50s-60s-drive-thru; drive-up; walk-up; a few tables outside. Fewer employees, easier to keep clean. Albertsons left Northern Nevada several years ago, why would they rebrand with a defunct name?

Re: Safeway East Consolidating into Acme

Safeway operated as far to the East as NYC until the early 60s, when they sold out to First National Stores in that area and retrenched to DC/Baltimore

7-Eleven wins bid to acquire Speedway

The average 7-11 is a dump (at least in Phoenix)and the franchisees are in constant battle with the parent company. It makes you wonder by buying Speedway they will dump the problem franchises.

7-Eleven wins bid to acquire Speedway

I imagine there is a lot of overlap between 7-11 and Speedway in the Midwest and East Coast which the FTC would force them to sell off. Plus 7-11 seems to be in a constant battle with its franchisees who have their own organization.
