Re: Walmart observations

Last Friday night I went to Walmart and noticed they had a large easel-like corporate sign at the health/beauty entrance stating that it was for emergency exit only. I did see a group of people going toward that exit to leave (not sure if they were successful). I did also notice at the grocery exit,...

Re: Burger King's Restaurant Of Tomorrow

I remember reading about some McDonald's that had a basement storage area and a conveyor belt brought the food up to the kitchen area. The older Dairy Queen (70s built) in my town has an upstairs area with windows visible from the outside. Always wondered what that level is/was used for. Haven't not...

Re: Burger King's Restaurant Of Tomorrow

Looks like a combo of Checkers/Rally's double drive through lanes and a Sonic, but needlessly complicated with tons of extra features added on. Designing a restaurant for the "age of coronavirus" is going to be a white elephant when this whole thing blows over in a year or two. I agree, spending al...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

For the time being I agree, most places are pushing drive thru or pick up. I disagree heavily with eliminating indoor seating in new locations. The pandemic isn't going to last forever, and eventually we're going to say goodbye to the new normal no matter what. I get irritated when I see places maki...

Re: Stores Returning to Regular Hours

Are people still bringing in their animals? I have seen more animals at stores these days than ever before. It is like everyone has adopted an animal and just has to show off. Haven't seen it as much here lately, but pre pandemic it was getting to be very common, especially the last couple of years...

Re: Stores Returning to Regular Hours

Do they have the checkouts open in the garden center these days or can one leave through the doors on that end? When I went a few weeks ago I went out through the grocery side, so I don't even know if you can exit any door except for there. Are the one way security gates still in use? Some of these ...

Re: Payless To Open 300 To 500 Stores In The Next 5 Years

I have not so fond memories of this chain. Yes I was taken there (and later their Volume branded stores in Washington) for shoes while growing up. What I remember is shoes that either fell apart or were completely worn out in only a couple months, and some of those were also not very comfortable. A...

Re: Payless To Open 300 To 500 Stores In The Next 5 Years

Yeah, I don't see this playing out. All of the touchscreen panels would be a gimmick that wouldn't last long, IMO. Besides that, what else would differentiate now from before. Then there's the competition, wouldn't Payless mainly be competing with Walmart, Target and other places on the budget end, ...

Re: Stores Returning to Regular Hours

Apparently our Walmart is now on the 7AM-10PM now as well. Walmart does seem to be the biggest as far as mask enforcement. There was a woman outside the door pulling anyone aside for not wearing a mask. As soon as I went inside though I saw a lady shopping with her kids and none of them had masks on...
