Re: Burger King's Restaurant Of Tomorrow

McDonald's started the trend of two or more drive thru lanes by adding an incomplete second drive thru only with the order kiosk. Existing locations have added third windows to the first drive thru lane for decorative and non-practical purposes. Many of those McDonald's with a third (now most often...

Re: Signs of trouble at Target?

Target has announced they intend to open a store by (presumably) demolishing the current closed kmart store in the Jackson, Wyo. community. However, at the article's square footage, I am surprised. Last I knew, Teton County capped 'box' development at 50,000 SF and smaller. I guess everyone's alway...

Re: The Future of Buffets, Salad Bars, and Self Serve?

If you sit there and have employees bring you unlimited amounts of food, how does the restaurant make money? The short answer is you can't. The whole business model of these places is to operate with as little labor as possible and make the customer do most of the work. That's the entire concept be...

Re: California Wildfires

Maybe a side benefit to having stocked up so much in the past is that people won't need to do as much for this event?

Re: Payless To Open 300 To 500 Stores In The Next 5 Years

One question-why? They couldn't make it before so what makes them think they can be successful this time around especially given the current retail environment? Perhaps it depends on how they did before they closed the first time? That is, they certainly had more that 300 to 500 locations then - if...

Re: Indoor Vs. Outdoor Malls & Restaurants

Many people are hesitant to go to movie theaters as these places will have many unmasked people eating, drinking, laughing, etc. If it were a mall, most people would be masked and you could move away from other people. Movie theaters recirculate the air inside and you breathe that air for 2 hours. ...

Re: Coronavirus Fears and Empty Supermarkets

I've also seen a few stores selling hand sanitizers made by US distilleries; Not a big fan of these because they make your hands smell like whiskey. I guess it depends on what the base product is - locally here it's an apple orchard that makes vodka from the apples, so it (from reports) has an appl...

Re: 7-Eleven wins bid to acquire Speedway

Those sound much like the Hess buildings I was describing above (that dated back to when fuel was full service, which has been quite a while here in NY for the most part). In NorCal, Speedway took those small locations with only a cashier kiosk and kept leasing them to the old Tesoro multi-site ope...

Re: Vons store numbers

Your recourse is to return items that are not of expected quality. Agreed but a lot of stores are not accepting returns at this time. At least that's the policy here. Be sure to read the "fine print" on that. While most of the signs/slips are just generic about no returns, if you check the websites...

Re: 7-Eleven wins bid to acquire Speedway

Hi all, I've split the discussion from the 7-Eleven purchase onwards and adjusted the title. Have fun! Also, I've been in South Florida a couple days. There's several Speedways here, many with little more than a cashier kiosk. I wonder how 7-Eleven will handle these? Those sound much like the Hess ...
