Re: Shaw's Planning New VT Location
Shaw's/Star Market was always a bit of a poor fit for Albertsons, yet at the same time, dabbling in sub-20k square feet stores is something that they've done since ASC, even if the overwhelming majority is from other operators or acquisitions. In Rutland, there's a Grand Union (former Tops, diveste...

Re: Target "Self Checkout Hours" 11 AM to 7 PM
Maybe more that people don't want the printed version, figuring it is easier to keep track of a bunch of emails or whatever then have to hold on to the paper copies if they are needed (which is actually fairly rare for many things).

Re: ShopRite to Exit Albany
Actually, both of the stores on Central Avenue (Colonie and Albany) are moves. They have one in Westgate plaza, which is about 3 traffic lights west of the former Shoprite location, along with one just west of the 155 intersection, they say about 2 miles from the former Colonie Shoprite (but it see...

Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location
I'm not sure as I very rarely shop there. Honestly their regular grocery prices have always been pretty decent, especially on store branded items. It's all the prepared food and other fancier items that are, IMO, horribly overpriced. Amazing just how many people seem to not be able to understand th...

Re: Grocery Outlet looking at NY locations
No argument, but miles put on surplus merchandise reduces the profitability pretty quickly. Upstate NY (like Michigan) has significant agriculture (tree fruit orchards etc) as well as processing facilities which are really the bedrock of an operator like this---there are STILL overruns and obsolete...

Re: Grocery Outlet looking at NY locations
The key is they need more sources for inventory. For instance if they are moving to NY can they partner with some chains or wholesalers there to take excess product? There is definite movement from PA out to the west coast for products including perishables. I have also seen signs of west coast pro...

Four of the five ShopRites are set to become Market 32. Slingerlands is not. The Colonie location is set to move. https://wnyt.com/top-stories/price-chopper-to-reopen-four-former-shoprites-as-market-32/ Actually, both of the stores on Central Avenue (Colonie and Albany) are moves. Re: McDonalds- no menu board. Use kiosk or app.
But to get the 99 cent Hash Browns, you have to navigate to "Deals" then add that deal to your order. If you go to the app, navigate to breakfast sides, then Hash Browns, you get charged the 2.79 in the app too. If you go to the kiosk and just "enter app code" to earn rewards, y...

Re: Stores That Still Don't Have EMV
Another good one is Charter/Spectrum. Go to their physical location to pay a bill. They have pinpads. They take your card and hand key it in the system rather than running through the pinpad. I have asked about the pinpads and was told "those are for future use." I never realized you coul...
