Re: Too many Dollar stores?

Here in my area there is a small chain called Yankee Dollar stores that is actually closing a few locations. One of them is across the road from a Dollar Tree and the other is in a small strip center more or less out in the middle of nowhere. And as far as quality of the merchandise in most dollar ...

Re: 33 JCPenney stores to close

When you look at the store base, the stores I am most curious about are the ones in smaller markets that did not get any renovation dollars under the prior management. And, I believe prior management made it known they were not sure what they would do with those smaller market stores. Those smaller...

Re: Value Village closing some stores

Over the past few weeks, I have done a bit of driving around the Northwest, and noticed that Value Village has closed a few locations, one near Gladstone/Oregon City, Oregon, one near Tacoma, WA, and another (which I read about today) in Bremerton, WA. I was just curious if this was due to poor sal...

Re: Albertsons Oregon

Maybe, I thought, they had some good specials going on. Well, not really. And forget picking up anything else if you do pick up on their specials. The meat department had some "buy 1 get TWO" free promotions on various "seasoned" meats. Chicken leg quarters (2.99/lb), Boneless Pork Chops (8.99/lb)....

Re: KMART 2013 STORE CLOSINGS

There's one (I think) closing in the Albany (NY) area - the store at Central & 155 for anyone familiar with the area. This was confirmed on one of the local TV station's news broadcasts today. The reason given (surprise, surprise)-deciding not to renew the lease. That leaves just three left in the ...

Re: KMART 2013 STORE CLOSINGS

There's one (I think) closing in the Albany (NY) area - the store at Central & 155 for anyone familiar with the area. Of course, the ads simply state total inventory blowout, there's nothing on the outside of the store itself with any words like closing or going out of business (a few signs by the d...

Re: New WinCo private label program?

It will be interesting to see if they replace some of the vague "brands" they have been carrying with this new private label. I've never heard of Santiam Canned Vegetables or Polar (product of CHINA) Canned Pears/Peaches/Fruit Cocktail, until WinCo. I've seen the Polar label here in NY, although th...

Re: Restaurants using Coca-Cola "Freestyle" machines

Moe's have them as well (they have for a while - I think they might have been a "test" group for them). Haven't noticed them at any other locations locally, but it's possible. Not sure if they would be as likely to show up in many full service places, since it would be harder to advertise all the ch...

Re: Walgreens Ad Now Bilingual

I noticed about a couple of months ago that the Walgreens ad quietly went English and Spanish. The Spanish words are printed in a smaller size, but it is still noticeable. Is this a nationwide thing or is it just limited to California? California has a large Spanish speaking population overall, but...

Re: 1st CVS/Pharmacy in Washington?

[quote="Super S] Rite Aid may seem firmly entrenched. However, they have been very spotty with rebuilding/remodeling the acquired former PayLess/Pay 'N Save locations. There are a few that, 15+ years after being acquired by Rite Aid, are still open and still have not been remodeled in any way, a few...
