Re: Spokane East Francis Fred Meyer Closing

The Longview Fred Meyer, as far as I know, has always been a Fred Meyer since day one. It was built in the mid 1970s. My comments about the light fixtures had to do with the fact they looked older than the store itself. I can't really describe them other than they were 8 foot fixtures that were much...

Re: Spokane East Francis Fred Meyer Closing

That looks like the interior that the Vancouver stores at Orchards and Fisher's Landing had in the mid 90s when those two stores opened. I am surprised that Fred Meyer has any stores left still using that interior, which is pre-Kroger. Although they do pretty thorough remodels these days, Fred Meyer...

Re: Arby's New Logo

My opinion? the lowercase logo looks out of place on the "hat" part of the logo. Not a great logo change if you ask me.

Pizza Hut removing all signs from buildings?

Earlier this summer, the Pizza Hut in Longview, WA removed the older "Pizza Hut" signage from the trademark red roof. In its place...nothing. Not even a repaint, and you can clearly tell where the old letters were. I thought the location had closed, but it remains open, and has the current...

Re: 19 More Albertsons/Save-a-Lot/Lucky Stores Closing

I was in the Tumwater Albertsons about 4 months ago. The store was filthy dirty, poorly stocked, had a bad odor, poorly staffed, perimeter areas looked terrible, and 2 of the 3 items I purchased scanned incorrectly. It definitely had nothing to do but improve. During that same week I went to the La...

Re: IKEA Gets Rid Of Self-Checkouts

Hopefully Home Depot and Lowe's will get the hint. I have been to my local Lowe's several times where the ONLY option was self-checkout (sometimes not even a cashier by the lumber doors), no attendant to be found, and people trying to drag a sheet of plywood over the scanner. Lowe's is one of the wo...

Re: Emptying malls in Portland, OR/NEW INFO about Jantzen Be

An update... The entire enclosed portion of the mall has now been demolished. The Burlington Coat Factory (former Kmart) is now the sole building remaining from the original mall. The former Wards Auto Center, a detached building, was remodeled into Office Depot several years ago and it remains open...

Re: 19 More Albertsons/Save-a-Lot/Lucky Stores Closing

Well the one closing in Marysville is very close to the WinCo there. No surprise. A tired mid 90's blue gray store. The one closing in Auburn, I forget... I want to say it is an older store remodeled/expanded into the grocery palace... Fred Meyer and Top Foods are both pretty close. The one closing...

Re: Rite Aid's Future

This came to my mind as Supervalu announced a number of Albertsons and Save-A-lot closures yesterday. Are the Rite-Aid/Save-A-Lot combos jointly operated, or is it a franchise? Save-A-Lot, by itself, has not done particularly well in the Portland, Oregon market, where many of the larger Rite Aid (Fo...

Re: Albersons Closing 19 more stores

Suggestion: This should be moved to "Non Region-Specific" as it involves more than California. I visited the Lagrande, Oregon store a few years ago, and it looked pretty tired at that time and still had the blue-gray interior. That closure is not surprising. It shared a strip mall with a V...
