Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

I agree, great article. If you don't have a WSJ subscription (at the moment I do not...) you may be able to access this from the resources of your local library card. Apologies to all. I didn't realize a subscription was required to view the article. I've had a subscription for years - never had to...

Re: Save Mart to remodel 50 stores

Funny how a small chain like SaveMart plasters "Central Valley" on stores located in Reno yet Albertsons can figure out to put "Chicago's Freshest Produce Shop" on a Jewel located on the Chicago side of the border with Evanston, IL and "Evanston's Freshest Produce Shop"...

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

A very interesting read from The Wall Street Journal about the demise of Sears.

One thing that stuck me when reading the article was how Eddie's hires seem to operate in a different reality than the others who were interviewed for the piece.

Re: Nordstrom Overhead Paging

I shop at Nordstrom, but don't know the answer, hence I didn't post. I wonder if that answers the question (no paging)? I assumed the telephone system thing was a different kind of overhead paging. I actually never heard paging at Old Orchard when it opened in the 1990's (I worked at Eddie Bauer an...

That isn't the one I was thinking of, but based on the Google pics it does fall under the "looks promising on the outside but disappoints on the inside" category.

Re: Kroger tests grocery delivery using self-driving cars in Phoenix

I am confused why they are pulling the service from Phoenix and moving it to Houston. I guess that is why it is called a "pilot" because it isn't ongoing. But if people were using the service in Phoenix, why take it away from them? They are probably moving, rather than expanding, the pilo...

Re: Kroger and creepy PA Announcements

Tonight I was at the Fry's Marketplace in Apache Junction and the "Hourly Conditioning" announcement came over the PA. In the bakery the associate was cleaning out the donut case using a feather duster. No singing, though.
