$350,000 a week in sales sounds more likely, not monthly. It was never a great performing store and I'm actually surprised it lasted this long.

Re: New Smith's Marketplace in Henderson, NV
This store has been coming soon for close to 5 years if not longer. I am happy to see they actually built it. It is on the way out to "Lake Las Vegas." This store should do very well, it is in a good location, and there should be additional development in the future that will benefit the ...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?
I guess BBB has a Target executive running the company now and there are high expectations to turn things around based on how he came from Target. Sort of like how there were high expectations on that Apple guy to turn JCP around and we see how that went... Just like the G.E. executive that drove t...

Re: Albertsons’ Soaring Prices
Yeah, it's kind of weird. I wonder if California customers are less price sensitive. Wages are probably higher than other states, and people who are struggling with money were probably not shopping at Albertsons/Safeway stores to begin with, so they can raise prices without losing too many customer...

Re: Krispy Kreme
I have noticed driving by the new Krispy Kreme during various times of day/night mostly on weekends when everything else around is very busy, the place is deserted or has one or two cars. I stopped there recently and the staff wasn't even inside, they were all messing around out back and rushed ins...

Re: Walgreens in San Francisco Closed Due To Severe Vermin Infestation
Rats are a common problem in supermarkets but used to be more so. Many more years ago than I care to admit, I worked for a supermarket chain back in the day when soda was sold in glass bottles. The cases that held the returned bottles waiting for the vendors to pick up were virtual rats nests. The o...

Kroger (and Walmart) also have some trouble competing against Albertsons/Vons dominance in San Diego. Kroger says they have top two market share in San Diego according to their fact book. In 2019: Albertsons/Vons = 22.5%, Walmart = 14%, Ralphs/F4L = 11.3% Walmart opened its first San Diego SuperCen...

Re: Open discussion: Car dealer industry
I have seen many car dealerships with inventory problems recently. The local Cadillac dealership has only a few cars left in the display lot outside. At first, I thought the dealership was closing, but it turns out that they are just out of cars. I leased a Mercedes for three years about a year and...

Re: Kroger entering Northeast with delivery-only model
https://www.supermarketnews.com/online-retail/kroger-enter-northeast-ocado-robotic-warehouse They seem to be very clear in calling this service Kroger Delivery, without mention of any regional brands. This seems to point even more at the eventual rebranding of the stores all to Kroger. Not only are...

Re: Smith's California Adventure
There was at least ONE Smiths in Palms Springs on Highway 111. I believe the building and center were torn down and the lot is still empty? You are correct but that wasn't the Smith's from the 1990's. They had previously operated in SoCal as Smith's Food King but gave up in 1984 and sold most of th...
