Re: Fast Food chains focusing on apps while menu prices skyrocket

All this chatter begs the question: Why do people still go to these fast food places? They don't. They go to In-N-Out instead. Look at the lines there. Have you seen the Chili's commercials? They say "have you seen the fast food prices? It's like they want you to eat at Chili's instead." ...

Re: Nordstrom going to Private Equity?

From what I've heard, their pickup/delivery stuff is all store-based, it's not directly out of a warehouse, so an employee has to go in, find the item in question (if it's in stock) and then package it up. (I had a coworker several years back who used to work at a Nordstrom.) Ship from store is an ...

Re: Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions Cutting Store Hours

Hours in Portland and Seattle divisions and Intermountain seem to largely remained the same, competing with Kroger (Fred Meyer) and Walmart at 6 or 7 am opening until 11 pm or 12 am closing. Downtown Portland closes at 10 pm. One store I am familiar with was closing earlier for a time but is back to...

Re: Salt Lake City picks up another urban grocery

2023 update. Apparently this store did close in 2022, which was probably partially related to changes in consumer habits alongside that part of Salt Lake City being "in transition." The store is re-opening now though, read all about it here: Lee’s Market is set to reopen in Salt Lake City....

I wasn't sure this was the right thread for this, but press releases like the one shredded in this thread, make news coverage follow: NBC Nightly News, March 11, 2024 Some grocery chains offer their own private brands to keep food prices down Frankly another lazy national news report, they only talk...

This is a tie in to their major sponsorship of the NCAA mens' and womens' college basketball tournaments "March Madness." Hopefully it sticks out all the way until early April for the finals. :)

Re: SLC WinCo joins Teamsters

Vesting used to be 5 years in, so this is an example of how even an "esop" company has made some changes to retain (?) younger workers. Long ago, I had a friend working for this company and she stated that mysterious things always seemed to happen to folks at her store(s) right before they...

Re: Best Yet brand in Hawaii

This comes from C&S California. They are the main wholesaler to Times and others. There is also Essential Everyday stuff there somewhere. My understanding is it actually gets there from UNFI Seattle. Franz bread is there too (as a frozen thaw and sell item) from the same supply chain. Cool, I w...

Best Yet brand in Hawaii

In Hawaii, when blessed to visit this month, the "store brand" at a supermarket was Best Yet. Very limited assortments, probably mostly in things that they couldn't easily get a name brand to send over to the islands. (ie. candle/grill disposable lighting sticks) Walmart also didn't sell n...

Local TV media also chose to report about it (KOIN-6 Television).
The Oregonian has an article but has locked it to subscribers only.
