Re: CA to ban disposable cups at restaurants for eat in

Another pointless West Coast ban. I remember a couple years ago, Washington tried a law to make things like straws and utensils by request only and they could not keep these out in the open. That worked out poorly. Either the law went away, or it is not being enforced, or restaurants are simply igno...

Do malls/shopping centers require current logo sign updates?

A thought occurred to me today. I have seen some older shopping centers, which haven't really had much in the way of remodeling, where the signage of all of the major tenants is the most current logo. I have also seen some where a road sign will have a current logo, while the stores themselves have ...

Re: Grocery Outlet looking at NY locations

I wonder if they're just a little over-expanded on the west coast--leading to not enough bargains and specials popping up to keep their channels full. Perhaps a more even distribution of locations (including expansion into NY/New England) will assist them with perishable closeouts (closer to manufa...

Re: McDonalds- no menu board. Use kiosk or app.

The thing that I have been wondering, is how long will it be before they attempt some kind of kiosk in the drive-thru? This seems to be the direction they want to go. So far, I haven't had issues ordering from an actual person inside, but will also say that I typically only visit McDonald's for brea...

Re: Target "Self Checkout Hours" 11 AM to 7 PM

This is not a smart move. Even before self-checkouts, Target was known for not having well-staffed front ends. A typical weekday would be maybe 1 or 2 cashiers, maybe 3 or 4 on weekends, and the expectation that all other employees in the store would come running every 5 or 10 minutes when they call...

Re: Walmart announces major new store opening and remodel initiative

Will be interesting to see if Oregon and Washington get any new stores. They are underrepresented here but the NW hasn't been much of a focus for them. Are they underrepresented statewide or just underrepresented around Portland/Seattle? Given the closures they did around Portland I don't see them ...

Re: Burlingame Fred Meyer sign demolished

That sign hasn't worked right for many years. Parts were always burned out, I think the inside was rusted. The new one will look like the one one but with LED. I don't know why the media is making such a big deal out of it. This is an improvement and respects history. LED doesn't look anything like...

Re: Rite Aid Buys Independent Pharmacy Tuttle's

What bothers me about this is not just the fact you have a company whose future is questionable at best buying independents just for basically the prescription files, and closing the stores. If Rite Aid does cease to exist, which is very possible, they will basically eliminate two choices and there ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

For what its worth, I have been seeing a few Rite Aid TV commercials, which gives somewhat of an impression that they are trying to stay open. But at the same time, with all of the closings (leaving some areas with very few locations), and varying store conditions, people are becoming hesitant to go...

Re: Woolworths could return to UK

Out west in the 80's and 90's the drugstore chains Longs and Payless were exactly that: a scaled down K-Mart type of a store. Osco/Sav-On and Thrifty were not... they handled fewer categories... and more of a focus on consumable food/liquor. I never saw a Woolworth in the urban shopping districts. ...
