Re: Sears/Kmart Death Watch 2018
Considering store locations that have closed and are closing and the speculation of bankruptcy proceedings, Sears Holdings has reached its end. Sears and Kmart stores could utilize the holiday season to make sales and liquidate merchandise, fixtures, and assets, then they could close in January. Or...

Re: JCPenney closing Northgate Mall Seattle store in 2019
I doubt Nordstrom would replace their store. They're in a store pruning phase. I read an interview with the Nordstrom brothers a while back that said they overstored the west coast. They're current pattern is to have 2-3 full-line stores max in a metro area. One of the Seattle stores will eventuall...

Chapter 11 will only prolong the slow, painful death of this company. Chapter 7 could be the end of the line though....we'll see.J-Man wrote: ↑October 9th, 2018, 10:47 pm Sears preparing for bankruptcy filing as early as this week.

Re: New Fred Meyer eCommerce site in beta
I heard an ad on the radio for this the other day. It will be interesting to see how this works, as many Fred Meyer stores seem to be focusing more on food and less on general merchandise.

Re: Safeway 7th Street and McDowell Road Remodel
They really need to do something about that lighting disaster upgrade as part of the remodel. Particularly where the strip lights are right next to what appears to be still-working can lights. The strip lights really cheapen the overall appearance.

Re: Mattress Firm Files For Bankruptcy
And Serta Simmons might buy Mattress World out of bankruptcy. https://nypost.com/2018/10/03/serta-owner-may-look-to-acquire-mattress-firm-if-it-goes-bankrupt/ It's all a soap opera. Would Tuft and Needle still slam mattress stores? Mattress World in Portland seemed like a soap opera of sorts for ye...

Re: Mattress Firm Files For Bankruptcy
For a while now there's been a conspiracy theory floating around the Internet that Mattress Firm is basically a front for an elaborate international money laundering scheme, which would explain the large number of stores in close proximity to each other. I know there are several areas here near mal...

Re: Mattress Firm Files For Bankruptcy
I can speak to the fact they changed their advertising mix and dropped radio endorsement live reads that the previous operators (Sleep Country USA > SleepTrain) used in this area. I agree, the stores are within blocks of each other here in many cases, it's almost like Payless or RadioShack in that ...

Re: JCPenney struggles
JCPenney has a new CEO: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/02/jc-penney-appoints-jill-soltau-as-ceo.html Interesting background, but it's worth noting that JoAnn has been updating many of their locations. At least JCPenney isn't stuck with somebody whose mission is to run the chain into the ground. Honest...
