Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Thrifty Payless was actually quite profitable. While it didn't have as good of performance as the old Longs chain did, it was absolutely profitable. However Rite Aid quickly made a lot of changes that definitely hurt the store performance some of which was quickly retracted when Bob Miller arrived a...

Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California

They're scamming employers by cold contacting with "potential recruits" too. Ton of employment scams out there on all angles. I guess Aldi can do okay with an expansion into NorCal but I really dislike their poorly run and poorly stocked CA Stores. They should quit trying to have larger st...

Re: Save Mart

The three unremodeled Nevada stores are definitely the bottom 3 performing stores under the Save Mart banner of the Nevada group. I'm not sure where the two NV Food Maxx units fit on the bottom performing list though. Pretty sure they did remodel Rocklin. The later cheaper remodels haven't aged part...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing

No additional discounts here. The Lake Forest locations were pretty much cleaned out last weekend. Foothilsl Ranch doesn’t even look like it’s going out of business. Still had most produce, all marked 50% off. It looks like you have to find an April closing store to get the additional discounts. No...

Just sit back and watch their mix expansion and price changes play out...

Family Dollar provides a lens into how I think that will play out. Guess we will see.

Are they requiring Circle for all sale prices now? Like a grocery store loyalty card?

Re: First New JCPenney In 8 Years Opens

Most retailers now purchase consultant services that determine the store hours for them. Hours are not indicative of performance, sometimes the opposite. I've worked for companies where my "better" stores were determined to be able to open later or close earlier, while lower performing st...

Re: Never built, but proposed

Can you list stores and what town they were proposed in?? For example, Best Buy was proposed in Yuba City, but didn't open. Construction permits, city council minutes/planning commission minutes, can be a good resource to find this sort of thing out. But once the openings don't happen it gets burie...
