Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco

All of this is very troubling for Walgreens! Let's not forget the elephant in the room................employee theft. Some statistics place that at 50% (minimum) to 60% of global shrink numbers (retail). ORC is the next highest percentage then comes regular shoplifting. Employee theft is the theft ...

Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco

Oh, I can tell you one major retailer out there rarely detains anyone. They will have their in-store LP follow shoplifters home and get their address (even multiple times to be sure) rather than confronting them in the store. That is even more labor intensive. IMO it is a stupid policy, If you saw ...

Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco

How many times do you allow them to get away with stealing before you finally confront them? You're never going to know who they actually are until they're detained. Personally I think it is better to have a trained LP agent confront them first and let them know they're on the radar. Facial recogni...

Re: Raleys selling 2 Food Sources to Food 4 Less

Food Source updated to EMV Contactless payments and their website is running again. Tough to know what is going on. Reno Food Source is not stocked well at all- shelves are super thin all over and have been this way for months. It is being restocked, minimally, and only when shelves get 100% empty. ...

Re: SteinMart Files for Bankruptcy.

It appears Stein Mart is finished either tomorrow or Sunday chainwide. I'm not sure if a few random stores will stay open longer but most stores will be done tomorrow or Sunday. The store in my area is quite empty of clothing but still has a lot of fixtures 75% off the rather arbitrarily determined ...

Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco

When detaining someone for shoplifting you are going to get an ID. If not you will hold them until the police do show up no matter how long that takes. They might come quicker if you explain that the person seems agitated and you're afraid they might become violent. It's also a good idea to explain...

Sounds like they are staffing the perimeter well to execute it this way. How was the staffing in the rest of the store?

At least they can execute well if they put the resources to it. As I saw in Boise.

Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco

NO NO NO NO NO NO.......that is not what is going to happen. Reallocation will not defund resources to respond to shoplifting. Money to address shoplifting will stay the same albeit not enough in the first place. It is not wise to conflate..................sorry to say. Shoplifting is a crime- once...

Re: Costco adding self-checkouts again

I am really surprised about these WINCO reports regarding their employees at the self check out or anywhere in the store. All I ever heard about these employees in the past was hard working, great attitude, driven, uber productive, high moral, etc. etc. This could portend that there is trouble from...

Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco

One closure in Berkeley too. Unclear if this had theft problems or just not enough customers.
