Re: Costco Door Scanning Rolling Out

i've heard rumors after the rollout is complete that nonmembers over 18 will need a valid ID to enter costco stores. How does that work? A couple comes in and one of them has a card/scans it- the other person in the couple has to show ID? If they don't have a card too? What will be done with this I...

Re: What's Office Depot's future

I've been surprised they haven't closed more locations. Office Depot keeps limping along in Reno. Multiple locations. These stores have a trickle of customers but they don't have many customers, transaction sizes are small, and the employees seem bored. The product mix feels uninspired but the store...

Re: Del Taco Deals

Sacramento was a market with Naugles locations that Del Taco took over and also I think had some original Del Tacos. They have had a fair number of failed locations around Sacramento area too. I quit going to Del Taco due to quality issues. One too many bean burritos with hard beans mixed in with wa...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

Just my opinion, but judging from history, my opinion of this merger has changed 180 degrees. I think the merger should be allowed to go through with the amount of divestitures Kroger/Albertsons currently want. C&S may not fail as bad as the Haagan debacle, but it will fail. The simple answer i...

Re: Trader Joe's opening in northern Idaho

Seems to be quite a theme here of negative comments on in-stock conditions at Trader Joe's... And the other thing is due to the limited assortment if they are out of stock on something, there is often not another suitable alternative... Exactly! Isn't this a reflection of sorts on their corporate o...

Re: Smiths Remodel-Carson City, NV

Sort of surprising that they wouldn't put something like liquor in a fairly visible spot (thinking like make an "island" across from the customer service area, or similar). Then again, they don't here in NY either, but that is just beer (not that people wouldn't take it, but it tends to b...

Re: Kroger shuttering distribution spoke in Miami

This and Austin seem like pretty high profile retreats. Obviously they didn't understand the Miami market and probably didn't have the right merchandise mix. Or you know, actual locations  I wonder how much market share Kroger has with their delivery-only business...I can't imagine it bein...

Re: Ralphs Fresh Fare Santa Barbara remodel

The decor in the two mentioned Smiths is not at all what is being used at any Ralphs. I also agree it's a very good looking store, I have spent several hours walking around the Henderson one. A superior operation in every way to Ralphs. Smiths executes better than a lot of Ralphs and does it over a...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

I still think they have this backwards out west… SpinCo based on Fred Meyer/Smith’s/Ralph’s/Fry’s/King Soopers would probably be the best thing. I’m not quite sure what they do in Utah and Montana though - possibly keep the Smith’s name there? In this scenario, Kroger gets all the Safeway locations...

Re: McDonald's and Krispy Kreme

I have tried the Krispy Kreme donuts at Walmart that are supposedly delivered every morning. They seem decently fresh. Maybe there would be a delivery truck driving to every McDonald's in the morning. I assume that McDonald's would heat up the donuts either like the chocolate chip cookies or the ho...
