Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California
I wonder if they are bidding on 99 Only real estate. Or Closed or closing Rite aid locations. Most Rite Aid locations would be too small, aside from older larger Payless maybe. With limited land space that is common in California Aldi would not be able to expand and meet parking requirements etc., ...

Re: Cracker Barrel closes Medford, OR location
I know a lot of restaurants and other retailers who won’t go into California. And lots more companies that want to expand in California over all other markets. One of the issues with the largest national chains is size, the physical buildings are way too large to open anywhere in California and tur...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
ANOTHER "store of the future" closing - along with 13 additional east coast stores announced 4/16 in bankruptcy docket. 1624 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. I find it odd they had so many of these in Virginia Beach. Also how they seem to be closing so many stores there. Wondering if this w...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Here's a list of the most recent closures. https://www.fastcompany.com/91091797/rite-aid-stores-closing-list-map-april-2024-update. I'm guessing they couldn't re-negotiate leases because the locations are such a mix of urban, suburban, small town in the middle of nowhere, etc., although no place ju...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
I am starting to wonder if this is going to be like Fallas who seems to have gone bankrupt and had liquidation sales multiple times but then reopens shortly thereafter running what seems like the same format. Well I've received quite a bit of flack here for suggesting that not all is what it seems ...

Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California
I wonder if they are bidding on 99 Only real estate. That was my first thought! Plenty of space that would be perfect in terms of size and location for them. Pricing is so terrible in Northern California, Aldi probably thinks they can make a lot of money... We will see how it goes. Based on the loc...

Re: Cracker Barrel closes Medford, OR location
Sacramento location is referring customers to Rocklin, which would imply that location is safe. Strange because I am pretty sure the Sacramento location was actually busier than the Rocklin location. Some employee posted on Reddit the Sacramento location closed due to "theft." Not sure wh...

Re: The backroom at TJs
That may be true. But none of the TJs I know are that large. At this point 2/3rds of the chain is outside of California and modern builds for the most part. They have massive stores in NYC with 30+ checkout stands. The only place they really have struggled is the first few areas they expanded to ba...

Re: The backroom at TJs
Not my experience, in general. TJs has had this problem forever and it's good to see them being finally sited for crazy backrooms. And yes there have been examples of that kind of mess with other retailers through the years but they were outliers even within the same retailer. The companies I worke...
