Re: Red Lobster endless shrimp promo backfires, results in millions in losses
That they failed to identify this and terminate the promotion seems to be interesting. I wonder if the chain is really floundering and is just using this as a scrapegoat. Shrimp prices have declined 40%+ in 2023 as compared to 2022 due to increased imports. I am sure that shrimp price decline is wh...

Stater Bros new and remodeled stores, including the new Ontario store opening in two days, have all been adding a large bank of self checkouts (about 6) and reducing to 6 full service lanes. They do a good job staffing the self checkouts and always have two cashiers to assist. They have a major rem...

Re: San Francisco Stores Stopping Self Checkout
I can't find any evidence of a successful legal challenge. There may have been challenges, and while this may seem discriminatory, at the end of the day, there is no law against it. Title II Of The Civil Rights Act, which covers businesses, prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, reli...

Re: 'Target CEO claims customers are saying ‘a big thank you’ for locking up merchandise'
I'm guessing Wal-Mart, who HAS definitely picked up new customers with Drive-up, is what is keeping Target from charging for Drive-up. But this certainly doesn't seem sustainable. It does seem like enough time has passed since the thick of COVID to add drive-up up-charges. They could publicly messa...

Re: Restaurant Designs of the Future
Chick-fil-a is coming out with a drive-thru/walk up restaurant with no dining room. Taco Bell is also coming out with a design with no dining room. Captain D's is doing a double drive-thru. The size of the restaurants are also shrinking. https://www.nrn.com/operations/9-prototypes-highlight-restaur...

Re: Walmart observations
I was at one of the Walmart stores local to me this morning. It is a mid-sized Supercenter that was built as a relocation of a discount store that opened in the early 1990s. The store has a deli counter with display case and slicers. I wanted to see what the Dietz and Watson selection was, if any. ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
But I think they have committed to operating these divested stores for the long haul, or is that just news articles that have interpreted that to be the case somehow? Of course they are going to tell the media that. If they said they plan to sell or close the stores, various parties would object (u...

I no longer have access to my university databases now that I have graduated. The discrimination piece comes from exclusionary tactics where there is no reasonable threat to safety, moral corruption, or other such pressing public need. You're a bar? You have to discriminate and ban those under 21 b...
