Re: Trader Joe Store Unionizes
One of the most overlooked benefits of Union membership (at least from my point of view) is protection against arbitrary dismissal/termination. In most workplaces, they can just let you go for no reason. You get a new boss and they don't like you they can show you the door and there isn't a thing yo...

Re: Gerrity's joins Wakefern
The only issue with ShopRite branding I could foresee is Moosic, where the Gerrity's is all of about 2500 feet from Bill's ShopRite in Moosic (or, basically, diagonally across the street). About this store, I wouldn't be at all surprised they end up closing it. Gerrity's was born out of the former ...

Re: Gelson's, Stater Bros Sued Over Thick Plastic Bags
The supply chain for paper bags is very fragile at this time Don't know if this is the beginning of a problem in my area or not but Target didn't have paper bags with the handles I've come to love because they're so useful-just relatively small paper bags that only hold a couple loaves of bread com...

Re: Food shortages?
Was in Target and Hannaford earlier today and both of them were quite thinly stocked in pasta and boxed cookies of all things. Pasta was particularly bad; took the last five boxes of rigatoni Target had and Hannaford was almost bare as well. Brand-wise it didn't matter; there was pretty not much of ...

Re: Salvation Army Thrift Stores disappearing
There was a local Goodwill store along NYS Route 30 in Amsterdam which has been closed for probably a few years or more but the Salvation Army store in a run down building in downtown Gloversville has been there forever and is still going strong. I can recall years ago my Mother found brand new clot...

Re: Gas Stations and Car Washes
Has anyone noticed people getting fewer car washes? The car wash places seem to be losing business these days. Funny this topic was raised. Was out shopping this morning and drove by a local Hoffmans Car Wash (a local chain with a pretty big reach in this part of NYS) and there were probably 10-15 ...

Re: Dollar Tree Raising Prices
Dollar Tree had kept a small amount of canned food and some other food I don't recall at $1. Those items are now all price increased to $1.25 as well. This would imply their price increase to $1.25 has been well received...? Either that or they just sold off remaining inventory at the lower price. ...

Re: Walmart observations
Wouldn't break my heart. I'll soon be approaching my first anniversary of not setting foot inside one.arizonaguy wrote: ↑April 20th, 2022, 7:58 am These two closings look like a possible sign of trouble for Walmart.

Re: Burger King
Problem with Burger King is they seem to love to put a mayonnaise portion on burgers that is the size of the meat. That's always been an issue with them. I remember back in the 70's, they put so much of the stuff on the Whopper it actually brought the flavor of the tomato out more than the meat and...
