Re: Albertsons Costa Mesa Closing, Northgate Gonzalez Will Replace

Apparently it was opened as an Albertsons. I was skeptical as the exterior was quite similar to the former Lucky's, former Albertson's (now Sprouts) on Venice Blvd. in West L.A. https://www.flickr.com/photos/socalretail/2592343960/ The Flickr photo mentions that it was developed by Lucky but opened...

Re: Save Mart closures

Not to mention they still have that store in Tehachapi, which I'm sure is their southernmost store. Only competition is a new Dollar General Market and a mid-90's build Albertsons.
Stater Bros would be a great fit for Tehachapi.

The article posted earlier says only 13 stores left. If that is true it really is sad to see how far they have fallen.
If it were up to me, I would sell off the remaining Randalls in the Houston market.

Re: Albertsons vs. Kroger comp spreads

To me, there were three major problems that led to Albertsons being split up in 2006. 1. Expansion into areas in the Southern and Great Plains states where there was a lot of established competition, not mention Wal-Mart Supercenters starting to become a threat. This explains why San Antonio, Housto...

Re: Tesco Considering Sale of Asian Businesses

Not to mention they opened F&F (Tesco owned) apparel stores inside Hy-Vee a few years ago. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story ... /86194976/

Those were replaced with Joe Fresh (Loblaws owned clothing brand)

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

I wonder if Albertsons should take these closing Kmarts and opening up more stores under the Market Street banner (Boise Market Street concept, not Texas stores). They took over a former Shopko in Meridian for the Albertsons Market Street concept.

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

I made a list of the remaining Kmarts, not closed or closing, if anyone is interested. I posted this on a few other websites as well. Alabama X Alaska X Arizona X Arkansas X California 1. Big Bear Lake 2. Costa Mesa 3. Freedom 4. Grass Valley 5. Long Beach 6. Mckinleyville 7. Ramona 8. REDWOOD CITY...

Re: Stater Bros Whittier Closing November 3

I thought they were planning to relocate this store. Maybe they still are but had to vacate this old one first? I guess old Lucky interiors repainted and with a new floor installed can't last forever. Stater seems be inconsistent with remodels from what I've seen. There is one store in San Diego (R...

Re: Subway Closures Explained

Oversaturation has definitely been a problem in some areas (back when I worked in Downtown Bellevue a few years ago there were four different Subways within three blocks of my office, and another one a couple blocks further away (there were also two Jimmy John's and a Quizno's in that area as well....

Re: Ralphs Fresh Fare Trademark

If my memory serves correctly, the Ralphs "Signature" in downtown San Diego was branded as such soon after Kroger transferred someone from a different division in to run Ralphs. I think it was around the same time they opened one or two Frys Signature Stores (which also had Fresh Fare int...
