The only large rival there is Terrible's. Maverik and Circle K have stores there, plus a bunch of independently owned 7-11s and AMPMs

Steinberg bough Smitty's of Arizona..and subsequently went bankrupt. Smitty's of Missouri was a licensing deal, its management originally worked at Smitty's/AZ and brought the superstore concept there.

Re: CVS pulling out of Puerto Rico (22 stores)
Being that PR is a U.S. commonwealth, not a state they have lower wages and can buy from sources not available to stores in the States. Also most of our pharmaceuticals were made in PR until the 90s, I don’t know if some of that is still in existence.

I know California won’t allow in out of state fresh milk, they supposedly have to add powdered milk to liquid milk due to rules favoring the California dairy industry. Also no black licorice sold in California due to Prop 65 laws…licorice is considered a possible carcinogen….in extremely large amoun...

Prescriptions for Schedule 2 Prescriptions such as Norco, Vicodin, Morphine, Adderall, Ritalin, etc. cannot leave the state. Arizona will not accept any of those Prescriptions from California. You would have to travel to another California pharmacy or see an Arizona Doctor and fill the prescription...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Only 10 new closures released today but 5 are in SoCal. Lakewood, San Diego (Lake Murray), Needles, North Hollywood, and Fontana. Needles is an unfortunate closure. Bashas left that shopping center during bankruptcy, 99 Cents Only moved in and was out of business after a few years. Not sure what th...

Re: Maverik Purchases Kum & Go
Just noticed a Maverik going in at Gene Autry/I-10 at the Palm Springs/Cathedral City/Desert Hot Springs exit. That will be the first SoCal location. I don't see any more SoCal locations planned but surely there have to be more planned. These so far are giant sites, quasi truck stops but no stoppin...

Re: Conventional pet food back at Petco
People can’t afford the boutique pet food brands as much nowadays. And many of those upscale brands (like Blue Buffalo) have big owners like General Mills and Smucker who can also sell them through the mass retailers.
