Re: Subway to build EV charging "oasis" locations
They probably also realize that Tesla is not necessarily the future of EVs. Exactly- traditional car companies such as Ford, GM, Hyundai, etc. are getting heavy into EVs. If my mother ends up getting a new car, it will be an EV (probably a Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Chevy Bolt). Personally, I don't have th...

Re: Pavilions Long Beach converting to Vons
They are not stupid and again unless they are going to do a nationwide banner change to Kroger at merger close they are better off maintaining the multi-banner strategy in SoCal especially after seeing the damage of their last merger and how quickly customers were displeased when their local store ...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
More than likely the spun off AZ stores would keep the 90+year old Safeway banner-Albertsons didn’t enter here until 1990, Lucky has been gone from here since selling out to ABCO in the late 80s, and Save Mart has too much of a cheap-ass store name (there have been several independent operators tha...

There are also two locations in Montana (near Missoula and Laurel) that have casinos as well. In fact it seems that almost all truck stops in Montana have small casinos in them. So does Town Pump, a Montana gas station chain that's in bed with Pilot/Flying J for truck stops. https://www.townpump.co...

Their statements to the public are that they are going to optimize this format to make customers love it, then get the zombie stores all opened, raise the "Mission Accomplished" banner, and take over the world. Their actions clearly are to just let the stores drift away with some minor, l...

Yes, I expect this Long Beach Vons to be a Ralphs as there are no Ralphs nearby to divest.ClownLoach wrote: ↑February 21st, 2023, 10:01 pm
Calabasas is a beautiful store that definitely should be converted to Pavilions. Do you mean this soon-to-be Long Beach Vons would convert to Ralphs banner?

Re: Pavilions Long Beach converting to Vons
Stater Long Beach was non existent there until the strike. I wasn't even sure if they would stay open as their first couple of years they maintained the blue and gray Albertsons decor and had absolutely no customers. I mean 5pm prime time nobody in line. They struck gold with the strike. Food4Less ...

Re: Pavilions Long Beach converting to Vons
I still expect to see more of the more upscale Vons and Albertsons with top wine and liquor sales converted to Pavilions format in the future. That's assuming the Kroger merger doesn't happen. I think Calabasas, Rancho Mirage, Irvine (Quail Hill), and San Clemente (Plaza Pacifica) Albertsons stores...

Re: New Stater Bros. Riverside replacement store opening
That Albertsons lot in Fallbrook was originally a Vons lot that they planned to build on. Vons closed their Fallbrook store in the early 90s (former Safeway), hoping to build on that site.storewanderer wrote: ↑October 2nd, 2022, 8:35 pm Stater is likely staying away from Fallbrook due to Major Market.

it's not just Atlanta----they often thrived in their traditional areas because of the stumbles of others---Colonial again in Cincinnati, Big Bear in Columbus, Food Town in Toledo, National Tea and later Marsh in Indy. HG Hill's withdrawal from retail and the failure of various Fleming ventures enab...
