Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
The pharmacy thing is a big problem that should probably disqualify Save Mart as a buyer. The only way I can see it work is if they find someone else to operate the pharmacies in the stores- but that someone else should be a new pharmacy operator to the market to ensure competition. Selling pharmac...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
Mergers are often not about long-term plans. Executives want to push the merger through either because they will get a payday, or for sake of ego.

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
If this merger falls through, Kroger will of course be fine, but Albertsons will be in trouble thanks to their reckless special dividend. That is, however, a problem of their own doing, so I suppose they can deal with the consequences of it. I don't think it will result in job loss, because many of ...

Re: Pavilions Long Beach converting to Vons
The problem with Pavilions is, why do they sell the Value Corner brand? QFC never sold any of the p$$t owl brand for the same reason Food 4 Less doesn't sell Private Selection. That brand does not belong in most Albertsons stores, except for working-class areas. The Value Corner packaging looks lik...

Re: Pavilions Long Beach converting to Vons
And that's how Ralphs has diluted the Fresh Fare mark so it's meaningless. They are ruining it like Safeway did with Pavilions. There are too many that are also in name only. How would that dilute anything? Most people don't shop for groceries outside their immediate area. A customer of one Fresh F...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
Here, the reusable thick plastic bags have both logos prominently on the front (Safeway / Albertsons). Does VONS not use something similar? I suppose your friends may also use their own bags (good on 'em). My sister is in an Oregon market with several of both branded stores and still forgets. :?: A...

Re: Pavilions Long Beach converting to Vons
Well, that may be the case, but "unlawful" has never been a deterrent for that type of collusion before. Just sayin....................................🤷♂️ All eyes are on this merger right now. Kroger and Albertsons know that opponents are looking for any excuse to block it. If they want...

Re: Albertson/Vons/Pavilions Pricing
Vons has given me $10 off basket coupons for the last 3 weeks in a row. I wonder how this fits into their pricing strategy. Perhaps they figure that these coupons will attract customers who will then do their weekly shopping there, but I think most people will be able to figure out that the $10 off ...

Re: Shipping rates on online retailers
Most likely it was shipped through a service called Multi-Channel Fulfillment, which is where Amazon will store a seller's product in their warehouse and ship it out to customers who buy it on other sites. If the seller sells on both Amazon and eBay, this can be efficient. I too miss half.com. I now...
