Re: Is Safeway going to unload the Vons division?
In looking at their last quarterly financials, the income from the Mexico interest fell in half. I wonder what is going on there. Safeway has had an equity interest in Casa Ley for years and Vons previously had a hispanic format, Tiangus, pre-Safeway. A decade ago in SoCal there were not many hispa...

Re: ConocoPhillips now Phillips 66 Company for consumer bran
So they're two completely independent companies, but ConocoPhillips still retains its name. Nope. not confusing at all. :? I suppose this gives CP the flexibility to rebrand with our affecting the consumer brands. It'd be nice if the brands went back to their unique styles & logo colors (the ora...

ConocoPhillips now Phillips 66 Company for consumer brands?
This is an odd move. I drove past a couple 76 stations today and noticed they had removed any mention of "ConocoPhillips" from sight. Looking online, the 76 Website now says its part of the "Phillips 66 Company" instead of ConocoPhillips... and the ConocoPhillips site has no ment...

Re: Fresh & Easy Bankruptcy
I thought they had a deal with Ron Burkle to take all that stuff. And that was why they were paying him $120 million... I wonder if the bankruptcy was planned all along or is a more recent development as they figured out this is the best way to break leases. I heard they actually offered terminatio...

Re: Ralphs private label: discontinued
Food4Less uses Kroger for its private label brand, so I'm willing to bet the random appearance of Kroker brand items in Ralphs is more stock shifting based on availability than anything. I'll occasionally see a lone jug of "Kroger" milk mixed in with the "Ralphs" jugs from time t...

Re: Safeway renovations in Arizona
I took some photos (albeit a bit blurry) of the Safeway at 7th St. and Thunderbird in Phoenix. This is an ex Alpha Beta store that appears to have been built in the 1970s. It has one of the most unique interiors of any Safeway I've been to. The full gallery is below: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/340...

Re: Safeway renovations in Arizona
Some Safeway stores that were remodeled into the Lifestyle format still have the old signs. It depends on the location. In some cities, getting permits to change the store sign is a long and difficult process that could take years. Often it is more trouble to get it changed than keep the old signs ...

Merged into the Southeast section, since it's about a store in that region.marshd1000 wrote:I posted that earlier in the section of this board about the Southeastern states. Maybe the moderator can delete my original posting?
