Re: Portland, Ore. receiving first stand-alone CVS Pharmacy
I have to wonder though why they don't try a little harder on making stores presentable when you consider that they also run the pharmacies inside Target. If CVS is really as bad as everybody says they are, people would just migrate to the local Target for their prescriptions. I'd suspect some peop...

Re: Walgreen's closing Rite Aid distribution center in Spartanburg County, South Carolina
Walgreen's is closing Rite Aid's distribution center in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Operations will transfer to Walgreen's distribution center in Anderson County, South Carolina. The distribution center was among three and 1,932 stores Walgreen's acquired from Walgreen's in 2017. It opened ...

As to if there should be a wage gap between departments in a retail store is debatable. For example a non-foods or HBA Clerk or stocker has the same responsibilities and roles as a grocery or produce counterpart. The one difference might be that most non-foods items aren't going to be as time sensi...

Re: Consumer Reports' Supermarket Rankings
Four of the top five are expensive specialty stores. Trader Joe's is just in a class by themselves. People say they like one thing but in reality most people vote with their wallets. Perhaps that applies to three of the top 5 (since only 2 of them can be found in this part of the US) but not the 4t...

Re: Taco Bell pricing
Sierra Mist with real sugar is the only soda that I like. No other major soda in the U.S. uses real sugar. They also make a version of Pepsi with real sugar (when first brought back it was the Throwback label with the old style cans but now it's a blue can similar to the regular one, so you have to...

Re: Target Registers Fail Nationwide
... Of course, they could just provide each guest with paper and pencil and have them write prices of each item from the shelf, but maybe that would be too Mom & Pop (or at least small chain - a supermarket did that once when their power was out, using the limited backup power for cold stuff an...

Re: Target Registers Fail Nationwide
These systems are far from fool proof. It is interesting Target did not have a back up mode or offline mode that would allow transactions to keep processing. But that causes a lot of problems as inventory tracking, pricing, etc. would not be available. Also it is strange timing for this to happen, ...

Re: Amazon Go
I continue to find it very ironic that a city will tell a privately owned retail business what forms of payment it must accept. However that same city is perfectly fine with a privately owned bridge (Golden Gate Bridge) that is cashless and will not accept cash payments. Why is the cashless bridge ...

Re: Rite Aid Liquor Store
Maybe something in their rules (no clue was they are in MD, but some states can have odd things in there) or possibly something in their lease that would keep others in that plaza from getting permission to sell liquor items (which they might want to keep to prevent competition for their newer store...

Re: Ahold Delhaize to roll out Nature's Promise line to all banners
What exactly are they doing with Food Lion? It is a joke in the Mid Atlantic region compared to either of the Giants (PA or MD). Higher prices, inferior stores, shorter hours, no self checkout, laughably bad bakery/deli. Also noticed Food Lion has its own private label on grocery, different point o...
