Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...
I saw some somewhat recent photos of the last NY Store and it appears the Sears Appliance Department is basically emptied out, but in clothing they are somehow sourcing some brand name items that are not present even in the remaining Sears locations that I've seen. Really tough to understand what t...

Re: Target 2022
What advantages do you see with the SuperTarget format? I've seen those nicely populated, but I'm not sure if the inventory count or having a deli or bakery would sound 'worth it' to Target. The advantages to Super Target are that it drives visits to the stores more often. This results in increased...

Re: Best Buy and the Smartphone Era
I spoke with our Real Estate director about a closing of a BBY at Grossmont Center in San Diego. She said that they did not care that it was their highest volume store in the area - it was also their highest rent location in the area and they were confident that the sales would migrate to the other...

Well I guess since Kmart is Kmart, they may stretch these stores out a couple more years.DFWRetaileWatcher wrote: ↑May 5th, 2022, 11:55 am No clue on the timeline, if that's actually the case.

Re: Target 2022
The problem with the small stores is that they're already in Target markets, and the markets that Target went into...some back in the 1980s and 1990s, were already medium-sized markets with an existing retail base--a few Wal-Mart and/or Kmart stores, a competitive grocery store ecosystem, and likel...

Do you see this happening this year?DFWRetaileWatcher wrote: ↑May 5th, 2022, 5:58 am I suspect the real reason these 3 Kmart stores remain open is that they're waiting on the leases to run out.

Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...
Rumor has it they still have leftover Christmas Sweaters taken from various 95% off liquidation sales. For some reason those just aren't selling. As soon as they can get rid of all of those, they will finally close down the remaining stores. They are very hopeful the current NJ closure will turn th...

https://hudsonvalleypost.com/stop-shop-closing-two-new-york-stores/ Recently announced closures of Stop & Shop locations in LIC (Queens) and Islandia (Long Island). This comes right after closures of Little Neck (Queens), Dayton, and Paramus. The Eastchester Road location in the Bronx is also s...

Re: Harris Teeter/Kroger integration
Boo. At least it still has mostly HT-exclusive ad elements. No Krojis or cart-slice logo to report, but this is still a sign of the times.

Re: 2022: 12 Kmart, 25 Sears stores remain...
Avenel, NJ is most likely to close next. Only three (!) Kmarts left in the 50 states; no one state has a majority or plurality in the store count after this.
