Re: Trader Joe's opening in northern Idaho
Seems to be quite a theme here of negative comments on in-stock conditions at Trader Joe's... And the other thing is due to the limited assortment if they are out of stock on something, there is often not another suitable alternative... Exactly! Isn't this a reflection of sorts on their corporate o...

Re: Smiths Remodel-Carson City, NV
In Sparks they removed the liquor alcove and put it approximately where the seasonal aisle in Carson was (opposite side of frozen). It will be interesting to see if they keep the liquor alcove in Carson City. With how they moved soda/water to the aisles in front of the alcove, in my opinion, it act...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I still think they have this backwards out west… SpinCo based on Fred Meyer/Smith’s/Ralph’s/Fry’s/King Soopers would probably be the best thing. I’m not quite sure what they do in Utah and Montana though - possibly keep the Smith’s name there? In this scenario, Kroger gets all the Safeway locations,...

Re: Chickfila to END "no antibiotics ever" chicken
Yes, the subject line is correct. This chain made a pledge to sell chicken with "no antibiotics ever" in 2014. It is now ending that pledge. The new pledge is something about no antibiotics important to human medicine. Whatever that means. And whoever concludes what constitutes "impo...

Re: Target Pricing - San Francisco vs. other areas
I wonder how much of this is attributable to theft, versus other factors making San Francisco a high-cost area of doing business such as real estate, taxes, wages, etc... I'm always hesistant to point price increases at a sole contributory cause unless the company outright states that "we've ra...

Re: Costco To Open Furniture and Appliance Store
This will sell furniture and appliances in a former Toys R Us. https://www.adn.com/business-economy/2024/02/20/costco-working-to-open-appliance-and-furniture-showroom-in-south-anchorage/ This seems like a natural extension of the brand, and makes sense in places like Puerto Rico and Anchorage, wher...

Re: Trader Joe's to add Roseville Store
Is the (relocated from Roseville) Rocklin store busy enough to justify another location this close to it? Seems kinda weird that they’d build one this close, even though it is up 65 and not 80. Where was the store in Roseville that they relocated? I think Roseville Square is still open. I think the...

Re: Smiths Remodel-Carson City, NV
Remodel is moving along well. They are getting through the rearrangement of the aisles. Soda is now over on the far side wall where paper products were, then snacks the next aisle. Giant cuts in space to all non food departments. Baby no longer is a full aisle it now has auto/office and some other ...

Re: Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions Cutting Store Hours
Almost all of the retailers, from Walmart to the privately-owned H-E-B cut hours permanently after COVID. Heck, Kroger was cutting back some of its 24 hour stores in 2019. Yes, but Kroger has been expanding those hours for the last couple years. Albertsons has not. Except in NorCal Safeway division...
