Re: Jollibee Expanding to 300 Stores in North America
There has been a combination Jollibee/Chow King/ Red Ribbon store at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila located next to a Seafood City (Filipino grocery) store for a number of years now, but I've never tried it because there are other places in the mall I prefer on the rare occasions I'm down there. Those ...

Re: International Marketplace Point Roberts, WA
If the store's business model is primarily dependent on people crossing the border to shop for items at cheaper prices, that's one thing, and wouldn't seem to justify the type of bailout being provided here. Then again, if you believe the theory that many of the permanent residents of Point Roberts ...

Re: Record heat effect on local stores
From what I've seen around here, many of the recent Fred Meyer remodels have included replacement of most of the refrigerated cases, and many of the new ones have doors on them. I believe the meat cases are still open in the stores I've visited recently (Snohomish and Kirkland) but the rest of the r...

Re: GAP and Walmart
I don't think I've been in an actual Gap store in many years, only a Gap Outlet. That said, as far as retail sales go it seems like there are a lot more Old Navy stores than actual Gap stores now.

Re: Costco Food Court - no more cashiers?
A lot of places around here have moved to using PLA (plant-based plastic) compostable straws, lids, and in some places even cups. PLA is a much more rigid plastic than the typical Polypropylene used for lids and straws which can make the straws and lids rather stiff, but it's still much more usable ...

Costco Food Court - no more cashiers?
Today I went to the Woodinville Costco to get lunch at the food court since I was in the neighborhood, and I saw that at some point recently they had removed of their cash registers from the food court, and now the kiosks appear to be the only way to order. Granted, Costco's implementation of a kios...

Re: Arco- Marathon?
My Dad has spent most of his life working on cars (albeit not as a professional) and tends to be very picky about what gas he will put into his cars. Arco is well down on the "do not use" list for him, as he has seen a fair number of problems caused by using it. Based on his advice I mostl...

Re: Amazon Fresh: Just Walk Out
There are a couple of Amazon Go stores in Downtown Seattle, although I don't know how well those work for them. In theory you would not be allowed to enter the store without checking in at the door, but I would assume someone could jump the gate pretty easily.

Re: Ross Store closure-Susanville, CA
There has been very little change over time to Ross' decor package that I've seen. A brand new Ross store opened in Lake Stevens last year that looked basically identical to every other Ross store in the area, some of which have been open for 25+ years with no significant changes or remodeling. The ...
