Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

To be fair, this is lower volume store that always had "cheap" lighting even under Safeway ownership. The center store lighting is essentially the same except that instead of 1 florescent bulb there are clusters of 3 together lengthwise (it didn't come out great in the photo). Is this loc...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

I don't know why some of you are so upset about the lighting, from what I've seen in other stores that are Albertsons conversions (H-E-B in real life, Publix in photos), they kept the fluorescents, which is standard anyway for drop ceiling type stores, even close to the perishable departments. The ...

Re: SuperMarket Design Firms

Most grocery companies use independent design companies. These are the ones I'm familiar with and some of their designs. Anyone know who the other major players are? Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Yikes that lighting looks downscale! I am glad these changes have not yet come to NorCal (at least not that I have seen)! What are they thinking? It looks like a 1960's Kmart. I am curious if these lighting changes are being handled on a market by market basis. Klkla previously said that the perime...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Finally got photos of the tacky fluorescent light fixtures being used in most of the drop-ceiling Tom Thumbs. Note the new fixtures compared to the old in the second photo. And for the record, this store was opened in 2013 and already looks outdated, especially with this lighting "upgrade."...

Re: HEB hires Mabrie Jackson as public affairs executive for North Texas

So, WFAA in Dallas posted this article earlier today: http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/heb-grocery-buys-more-property-in-tarrant-county/41324779 , and people are going crazy over the news (270+ comments so far on Facebook, compared to a usual 10-30). If HEB does make a DFW move-in, the challenge for w...

Re: Publix expanding to Virginia

The mid-Atlantic United States may provide quicker opportunities for Publix to expand the territory of its Charlotte Division, add many stores in new markets, and establish itself for possible northward expansion. Publix has not forgotten about the southeastern United States and possible westward e...

Re: Phoenix: Albertsons/Safeway co-branded monthly ad

This does not make sense, they were even repainting some of their trucks to have the better slogan and graphics. NorCal ad still has the it's just better slogan. Then again, not much is changing yet in NorCal... yet... The trucks are still all over the place and inconsistent. I pass by the Randalls...

Re: Phoenix: Albertsons/Safeway co-branded monthly ad

I noticed same thing with Vons in SoCal this week. The ad doesn't use the slogan and website is back to Ingredients for Life. Were the website slogans ever updated in the first place? The Tom Thumb and Randalls sites also feature "Ingredients for Life"; however, many other elements of the...

Re: Phoenix: Albertsons/Safeway co-branded monthly ad

Ad update out of the DFW area: I just received this week's ads for both Albertsons and Tom Thumb, and there is no sign of 'It's Just Better" in either. Albertsons features the old "You're in for Something Fresh" while Tom Thumb just says "Proudly serving North Texas since 1948.&q...
