Re: The backroom at TJs
As a former operator of small and uber large stores, urban and suburban, I have not seen stores like this in the backroom. A temporary disaster, okay. But a status quo condition like what I saw first hand is crazy. I have terminated managers that had back rooms like that (if in that condition often)...

Re: Burlington closing Carson City, NV location
The shopping center on Topsy in Carson gets almost no traffic all week or in the evenings. The only time it has any significant traffic is on weekends during the day. The Wal Mart across the road is busy all the time. The Target up the road has a similar traffic pattern to the Topsy shopping center...

The backroom at TJs
https://www.supermarketnews.com/retail-financial/trader-joe-s-colorado-faces-osha-fine-worker-safety This is what I have spoken about in the past regarding my observations and the experiences of Employees (friends of mine). Tiny backrooms with boxes (unsafely) stacked high, narrow pathways, blocked ...

Re: First New JCPenney In 8 Years Opens
I was stuck in line at JCPenney, and many people were having problems using their JCPenney rewards program. The cashier would push signing up for Rewards and then people would have problems redeeming. Then there were multiple issues with the cashier asking if you wanted to apply for a credit card. ...

Re: Macys Stores Closing by 2026
Yeah, I was not thinking of quantity. It was smart to reduce that substantially. But variety? I'm not seeing it. In fact I spoke to the Department Head and she said they keep on discontinuing lines. I had a list of items I wanted to buy (that I always found at Macy's) and they were either OOS or dis...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
Problem is the bankruptcy filing doesn't support the narrative. Declining performance is not the same as a liquidity crisis. Do I think the stores had problems? You bet. But they were easily corrected, close all non CA stores and wipe their leases with a Ch 11. They didn't lease back much. I am sor...

Re: Self Check Outs
Interestingly, I visit the Stater Bros off Iowa Ave in Riverside, which is just a few blocks away from UC Riverside. This Stater is one of the stores that just got a major overhaul as part of their remodeling program, and to my surprise, they added 4 self-checkout stations as part of the remodel. T...

Re: Macys Stores Closing by 2026
None of this is official besides maybe Union Square. The rest is a presumptive "leak" probably intended to light a fire under the butts of their landlords. Someone had mentioned they thought they would consolidate South Coast Plaza which I doubted. Drove by today and both of the Macy's bu...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Awful take. There aren't "so many options for groceries". Oh wow! Customers can just go to the dollar store instead! Yeah, no. What's next, considering 7-Eleven a competitor? Imagine if American Stores had tried to argue something similar in the 1980s when they bought Lucky. Also, as far ...
