Re: Subway Switches To Pepsi For 10 Years From Coke

No major restaurant chain serves both Coke and Pepsi. This is not entirely accurate, especially when factoring in airport locations, some of which have contracts (which also apply to restaurants in the airport) stipulating only one brand can be sold throughout the airport. The Detroit Airport is on...

Re: Nordstrom going to Private Equity?

From what I've heard, their pickup/delivery stuff is all store-based, it's not directly out of a warehouse, so an employee has to go in, find the item in question (if it's in stock) and then package it up. (I had a coworker several years back who used to work at a Nordstrom.) Ship from store is an ...

Re: 7-Eleven Really Hates Wyoming

I have been wondering why Albertsons/Safeway hasn't tried to get a few of these back. In Oregon and Washington, I have seen a few Albertsons rebrand to Safeway but the fuel stations immediately in front of the stores remain under other brands. One interesting situation is in Troutdale, Oregon, where...

Re: Subway Switches To Pepsi For 10 Years From Coke

I personally prefer Pepsi products. I gotta wonder if Coke was pushing Subway to adapt Freestyle machines...those seem to only work in high volume operations, and not all Subway locations fit that bill. I have been noticing some restaurants that went to the countertop Freestyle machines have switche...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

I don't want to call Haggen, Andronico's, Kings, and Balducci's worthless but those banners alone I am not sure they could stand alone. There is a reason who those companies sold to Albertsons. They were not exactly thriving. Haggen and King's/Balducci's were in bankruptcy. Haggen as a name was sev...

Re: Fast Food chains focusing on apps while menu prices skyrocket

I've been talking about this for quite some time now. The situation is fluid but I have found locally both McDonald's and Burger King have lower prices on their apps versus in restaurant, and also offer massive discount deals not available without the app. Basically these restaurants have decided t...

Fast Food chains focusing on apps while menu prices skyrocket

A trend I am noticing in my area, is that various major chains are heavily pushing people to use apps for pretty much all specials, while the pricing of menu items continues to climb, in some cases, to a point where prices are more than an item is worth. Several are also discontinuing mailing coupon...

Re: SLC WinCo joins Teamsters

At one point, it was common to see people picketing outside of WinCo stores in the Portland/Vancouver, WA area. They were picketing about the fact that WinCo did not have a union contract. This seems to have stopped as I have not seen those pickets in years. I am not sure if the picketers were from ...
