Re: "Generic" Walgreens?
That looks very similar to some of the original California builds which were usually on gas station corners. They probably had some sort of signage and/or architectural restrictions in this location. It also looks very suspiciously like a former bank.

Re: Trader Joe's adding another Salt Lake City, UT store
At first I thought a former Pep Boy's Auto would be too small, but in Utah they cannot sell wine (or hard liquor) or any beers stronger than a certain ABV so that opens up a bit more space. Great parking lot choice (lots of space) and visibility/access for this location. Unlike most others, this on...

Re: Chickfila to END "no antibiotics ever" chicken
Yes, the subject line is correct. This chain made a pledge to sell chicken with "no antibiotics ever" in 2014. It is now ending that pledge. The new pledge is something about no antibiotics important to human medicine. Whatever that means. And whoever concludes what constitutes "impo...

Re: Tabletop tablets in chain restaurants
Earlier this week I had dinner at my local Red Lobster, and noticed that these tablet things were completely gone from the restaurant. They really seemed out of place at Red Lobster as they took up space and were distracting while eating. I am glad they are gone. I think more places are going to a ...

Re: Target Pricing - San Francisco vs. other areas
This is not new at all. Target, Walmart and others have been doing zone pricing and comp price studies for a very long time. My understanding is Target has had zone pricing for over a decade primarily from competitive shops. The only change I see is that they're doing a better job of making the pric...

Re: Target Rolls 10 item "Express Self Checkout" Nationwide
Went to the Fullerton Greatland on a Saturday evening, a lower volume unit in a pretty good area (this is the Malvern location, not Harbor which is literally the regional LP office for good reason). Both banks of self checkout fully open, and they had 5 staffed checkouts. The execution error there w...

Re: Costco To Open Furniture and Appliance Store
This will sell furniture and appliances in a former Toys R Us. https://www.adn.com/business-economy/2024/02/20/costco-working-to-open-appliance-and-furniture-showroom-in-south-anchorage/ This seems like a natural extension of the brand, and makes sense in places like Puerto Rico and Anchorage, wher...

Re: Trader Joe's opening in northern Idaho
For a company that seems to be expanding at a quicker rate lately, they sure do seem to have a problem with noticeably increased product recalls (as reported all over). Not that this is connected but just sayin............................. 🤷♂️ And out of stocks... I have reduced how often I shop t...

Re: Macys Stores Closing by 2026
If they close all the stores on this list, they will continue to lose sales. With no stores in a market, they've admitted online sales shrink as well so they will lost that revenue. Looking at the three Oregon stores on the list that I am most familiar with. Closing the Bend store in a fast-growing...

Re: Trader Joe's opening in Murrieta
This area - within a 2-mile radius - is about to see a population explosion with thousands of new apartments under construction, approved or in the approval process. The latest a 387-unit complex 1.7 miles west on Murrieta Hot Springs at Jefferson. Traffic is already very bad surrounding the Sam's ...
