Re: Woolworths could return to UK

Out west in the 80's and 90's the drugstore chains Longs and Payless were exactly that: a scaled down K-Mart type of a store. Osco/Sav-On and Thrifty were not... they handled fewer categories... and more of a focus on consumable food/liquor. I never saw a Woolworth in the urban shopping districts. ...

Re: "Drive Through Only" fast food during lunch/daytime

It is becoming less common, but I am still seeing it occasionally in the Portland area.

Re: Retailers ignoring physical locations while pushing online ordering

That article is spot on. Stores lost their way in certain categories. Some lost big & tall sections entirely, some are just terrible due to a lack of staffing, and then you have issues with stores locking up inventory which highlights lack of staffing. And, at least here in Washington, as minimu...

It is strange they sat on this site so long.
Maybe they had to wait on permits or a build out of infrastructure. WinCo is still waiting to build in Centralia, WA, on a site where Fred Meyer already backed out.

Re: Costco Food Court

I am done with the Costco food court until they find a straw that does not disintegrate before you finish your drink. The paper straws they use now are terrible.

Re: Safeway NorCal: 12pk Coke/Pepsi 10.99

I have seen $9.99 here in WA. Even WinCo has been at $7.99 at times. This has caused me to switch to store brand pop. Though it seems that at least one store in an area (and often more than one) will have either Coke or Pepsi items on sale on any given week, so someone who pays a little attention c...

Re: Signs of trouble at Target?

The anomalies at my local Kelso, WA Target raised concerns during my visit. The service desk's relocation to express lanes with lights turned off appeared unusual, prompting speculation about potential business challenges. The store's outdated features, including older lighting fixtures and colored...

Re: Applebee's All You Can Eat

Applebee's has brought back its all you can eat boneless wings, riblets, and double crunch shrimp for $14.99. With the high price of fast food these days this seems like a good deal. It's too bad that Applebee's has been closing locations all over the place. You have travel far to even find one. ht...

Re: Cluttered aisles at Fred Meyer

To add insult to injury, some time in the last month or so my Fred Meyer replaced all of their carts. These carts are bigger and have seats for two small children, and look similar to the regular carts Costco uses. This creates even less room down the cluttered aisles. One oddity is that, with the n...
