Re: Burlington closing Carson City, NV location
Hobby Lobby will do great in this location. It will probably be the end for the Jo Ann in Carson though. And I'm not sure if the Michaels will survive either in their current location. Maybe they could try to relocate. I've never seen a Michaels close after a a Hobby Lobby opens. They are next door...

Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California
I think the 99 Only and Rite Aid closures will be a real estate jackpot for Aldi. Many of those SoCal Rite Aids are in that 22k square foot range (former Thrifty units) with the grocery co-anchor long gone so I expect Aldi can move in. I do not think Aldi is a good addition to the market but it is ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I wonder if they're making changes to the store banner mix to make it easier for C&S? So for example in California make it mostly Albertsons branded stores that go to C&S if they were choosing between unloading a Ralphs or a Vons or an Albertsons in a particular neighborhood? Obviously they...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Under the amended agreement, C&S will license the Albertsons banner in California and Wyoming and the Safeway banner in Arizona and Colorado. In these states, Kroger will re-banner the retained Albertsons and Safeway bannered stores following the closing of the merger. Kroger will maintain the ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Safeway is putting money in Phoenix…. Remodeled stores and several new stores in Surprise and one planned in Buckeye. I prefer going to Safeway as the Fry’s stores seem to be getting more shabbier, especially the floors. Then it should be a great thing for this C&S? They're getting better looki...

Re: Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions Cutting Store Hours
This 10 PM closing is not working in SoCal around Los Angeles in my opinion. Some stores do not even have hours posted (???) and many customers are still trying to go in at 10 PM. I guess people will figure it out and quit trying to shop there... Meanwhile Ralphs closing at 1 AM is doing thousands i...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
How can this chain survive with stores that look like this? What is going on here? These are busy stores. I went into a couple obviously not busy stores that did not quite look this bad. Those stores look like newer stores. This was a lot older store that is now closed, but when I went a few months...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Are any of those stores that look so bad ones that were on the potential closings list but then they worked out with the landlord to keep them? Thinking that the one in this area that has more of this issue (though it did have quite a bit of stuff in the seasonal section, so "new" stuff w...

Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California
Not my experience at all this weekend. I encountered a messy store with one checkout open and the line going down the aisle (it did move fast though- I waited about 8 minutes), and as I was waiting in that line thinking about and observing the store conditions I was thinking to myself this place is...
