Re: Gelsons Laguna Beach closing

...Coronado was also really nicely remodeled by Supervalu (a shame that is a Smart & Final now... wonder how that survives)... My guess is that three things factor into S&F's success in Coronado: 1) People commuting from the naval base to other parts of metro San Diego, 2) Tourists who want...

Re: Knott's Berry Farm jams discontinued

Anymore I buy either the Whole Foods or Signature Select fruit spread. It is every bit as good (sometimes even better than) as the name-brands, which tend to have limited offerings of anything other than jellies and jams. If enough people do the same as me (and I suspect they do, given the amount of...

Re: Eddie Bauer dumbs down logo for GenZ

When they changed out the 1970's - 2000's logo for a slightly different script logo (which was changed back) merchandise carried the old logo for a couple of years. Maybe they bought labels in bulk and want to use 'em up. 🤷

Re: Gelsons Laguna Beach closing

... Pacific Beach Garnet Albertsons received an early Supervalu Premium Fresh & Healthy remodel that looked nice but kept the tiny department sizes... Thanks for that. I rarely shopped at that store, so my memory is a little fuzzy. They might have redecorated that store when they redecorated Co...

Re: Lack of Whole Foods North County San Diego

... The Gelson's in La Jolla you are talking about is really Pacific Beach. That one was originally a 60s model Alpha Beta. I believe this store had the PF&H v1 interior before Haggen bought it. I'm not sure what interior the Pacific Beach Albertsons had before then, maybe @rwsandiego knows. .....

Re: New Balducci's Decor Package

An interesting update in Albertsons Mid-Atlantic: apparently there's a new decor package coming into at least one Balducci's in VA. It's extremely bland, at least based on a rendering posted to Broden Design Group's website (scroll down to Upcoming Projects).... I hope the trend of bland, character...

Re: New Ralphs/Kroger Interior

...Fry's essentially is two chains. The 25% of the store base that is newer with 85,000+ square foot stores with warehouse ceilings and a massive assortment of product seem to get a lot of love. The 75% of the stores with drop ceilings and a high variety of layouts (depending on original owner/oper...

Re: Simple Truth "Organic" redesign

I meant the plain "Simple Truth" label, although many of those items (particularly meat and eggs) have "Natural" prominently stated on the label, such as https://www.kroger.com/product/images/large/front/0001111087023 If I were Kroger, I would keep "O Organics" as the ...

Re: Woolworths could return to UK

Yeah.....................not really. I'm pretty old and nothing about DG resembles Woolworth. Like you, I remember Woolworth's. They were not like Dollar General nor were the like drugstores without a pharmacy. Woolworth was more like a scaled-down K-Mart. They also operated Woolco stores that were...

Re: Walmart 2023 Closings

... of these Supercenters is a former Home Depot Expo Design Center. At the most the store is 80,000 sq feet. Walmart cut back in areas outside food, HBA and electronics to give more space to the food section... Sounds a lot like the Encinitas, California location. There wasn't anyplace for Walmart...
