Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact

The Fred Meyer you are thinking of may be the Shoreline Store. I think that store has decent traffic and likely hits $1 million a week which for a store of that size isn't really great and they could cut the thing in half and probably not even lose $100k of the volume. That is a strange Fred Meyer ...

Target would never agree to a space within their store to sit vacant.
So what do they do with the space? In most stores, it's not a huge amount of square feet. Just wall it off, add a door, and use it for stock room space? Make it the Ulta space?

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

12 more stores closing in today's court docket. Downtown Portland. Read the Google reviews on that store recently. YIKES. That store is in the Pearl District. It should be a cash cow for them. It's a block or two away from being in an ideal location but there are few real competitors in an area tha...

Re: Costco Food Court

Since we are on the subject of what they could do with their food court. Adding a cooler with some of the items from the in-store deli in the back of the store might be a great idea. The turkey roll-ups, mac & cheese, croissant sandwich and other items that they already make and sell could be a ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact

Moving stores from $500K to $1M a week type consolidation is the Kroger specialty as we saw with the mass culling of Ralphs stores in SoCal. They obviously don't care about the pain it causes. Remember that they're going to be more focused on sales per square foot metrics as well as bottom line pro...

Tried the cookie over the weekend and it was pretty good. Remember this is a snack bar and a cookie makes a great snack. This has winner written all over it unlike the $9.99 Roast Beef sandwich.

And here we go with the lawsuits: State of Washington just filed a lawsuit in King County (Seattle) to block Albertsons / Kroger merger on anti-competitive grounds, at least in the State of Washington. https://www.npr.org/2024/01/15/1224401179/kroger-albertsons-merger-grocery-lawsuit-washington I'm...

They switched to some corn based straw . I haven't seen paper straws in a while.

Re: Signs of trouble at Target?

The anomalies at my local Kelso, WA Target raised concerns during my visit. The service desk's relocation to express lanes with lights turned off appeared unusual, prompting speculation about potential business challenges. The store's outdated features, including older lighting fixtures and colored...
