Re: New Grocery Chain To Sell Expired Food

Not very ethical to say the least. Here in NY, there are always stories about stores getting fined for having outdated product on their shelves. Some stores have even put up signs telling customers to inform management if they find outdated product being offered for sale. With all that being said, i...

Re: Too many Dollar stores?

The two Yankee Dollar stores I'm referring to are in Johnstown and Palatine Bridge. Johnstown is the one across from a Dollar Tree but Palatine surprises me because it's located in a small strip along State Route 5 with seemingly not much direct competition relatively speaking.

Re: Too many Dollar stores?

Here in my area there is a small chain called Yankee Dollar stores that is actually closing a few loactions. One of them is across the road from a Dollar Tree and the other is in a small strip center more or less out in the middle of nowhere. And as far as quality of the merchandise in most dollar s...

Re: Too many Dollar stores?

I say let the market sort it out. Stores set up shop where they think they can make money and if they don't, they leave-simple as that. It's a concept as old as retailing itself. There will be a "shake out" eventually.

Re: KMART 2013 STORE CLOSINGS

There's one (I think) closing in the Albany (NY) area - the store at Central & 155 for anyone familiar with the area. This was confirmed on one of the local TV station's news broadcasts today. The reason given (surprise, surprise)-deciding not to renew the lease. That leaves just three left in ...

Wal-Mart Drive Thru Pharmacy

Wal-Mart is replacing their store in Gloversville, NY with a ground up supercenter a few miles away. According to an article in today's paper announcing the opening date sometime next month, there was mention made the new store will have a drive-thru pharmacy. This is the first I've seen or heard of...

Re: Restaurants using Coca-Cola "Freestyle" machines

Saw my first one of these personally last week in Cooperstown, NY at a place called Batter's Up restaurant. The place has been recently sold and remodeled and I was very surprised to see one of these in a non-chain setting. As an aside, didn't look like it was seeing much use either.

Re: Meat Cutters At Save-A-Lot?

There's a Hannaford directly across the road and a Price Chopper probably within a mile or so of this store but more within city limits. Both are full line supermarkets. I just don't get it. The only thing I can think of is there's an Aldi a few miles down Route 30-A in Johnstown which just underwen...

Meat Cutters At Save-A-Lot?

Noticed a help wanted sign for meat cutters in the window of a local Save-A-Lot. I thought all their meats were case ready.

Re: Walgreens To Acquire Kmart Prescriptions

[quote="BillyGr"]On the other hand, Kmart closed most of the pharmacies in this area (Albany, NY area) several years back - at least 4 or 5 years ago - I think maybe one store still has one, maybe none do. /quote] Only three left in this area are in Rotterdam Square Mall, Queensbury and He...
