Re: New Jersey Ban On Paper Bags, Single Use Plastic Bags, & Plastic Food Containers
I can tell you stores and warehouses around here are not getting paid by cardboard haulers anymore here in NV for cardboard scrap. Maybe we have too many warehouses around here and a glut of cardboard... but that changed a few years ago and now these places are paying haulers to haul the stuff off....

Re: New Jersey Ban On Paper Bags, Single Use Plastic Bags, & Plastic Food Containers
You're right the dirty bag from another customer probably doesn't effect you. It effects the cashier who is potentially handling a dirty contaminated bag, or dozens of dirty contaminated bags during their shift. It DOES effect you because that cashier that packed someone else's dirty and contaminat...

Re: New Jersey Ban On Paper Bags, Single Use Plastic Bags, & Plastic Food Containers
I know what I did with them back in the 60's when I was growing up-boxes were actually one of my favorite things to play with. I had plenty of toys but give me a cardboard box and I'd be fascinated by it. I doubt I'm alone either.

Re: New Jersey Ban On Paper Bags, Single Use Plastic Bags, & Plastic Food Containers
Those are (surprisingly) not new - the chain in New England/NJ Edwards (which somehow wound up with one store here in Latham, NY) had boxes like that back in the 1980's. They were positioned as a warehouse store (sort of the early version of Aldi before Aldi existed) so they didn't provide bags. Th...

Re: New Jersey Ban On Paper Bags, Single Use Plastic Bags, & Plastic Food Containers
At this point with NJ, maybe it would be best for everyone to get boxes from the store (the boxes the store receives product in) to take their items out in. That puts the disposal of the box on the customer however. This turns the box into a multiple-use item. I don't think customers would like thi...

Re: New Jersey Ban On Paper Bags, Single Use Plastic Bags, & Plastic Food Containers
Grocery stores will be prohibited from providing paper bags. What will this do? Here's what it might do-cause a lot (more) NJ residents to do their shopping in neighboring states. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see some store closures in NJ as a direct result of this. Wonder if any more states wil...

Re: Rite Aid Logo Change
Just for curiosity's sake, checked on their website the other day and there's a locator feature on there that does indeed say Thrifty Ice Cream is available at the stores nearest to me. Have no desire to go out and try it but just read about it here for several years and found it interesting it's fi...

Re: Walmart observations
Saw something at one of their local stores this morning and am wondering if this is happening anywhere else-in some areas of the store, the one way arrow markers on the floor have been removed. I saw this near the pharmacy and the HBA and cosmetics area and also in electronics and cleaning supplies....

Re: Halloween Stores & Halloween Sales
Target finally added a Halloween section. The selection is much less than last year. It seems like Target purposely made the Halloween area smaller this year. Was in my local Target earlier this morning and all I saw was a few clothing items for kids mixed in with the regular offerings-nothing real...

Re: Retail design trends
Wood floors are alright, but in moderation. I can't imagine carts rolling through a full store of them. I remember a Loblaws here in the area (the Gloversville store that was built in the 50's and closed in the 70's with signage intact until it was finally torn down in 2015) which had hardwood floo...
