Re: Safeway wholesale in the Northwest?
There was also a period where Waremart, and later WinCo, carried Lucerne brand yogurt. Right up until WinCo started rolling out its own store brand. I believe WinCo still gets some product from Safeway, such as some breads. However, there was also some Fred Meyer and other Kroger brand trays the br...

Re: CA Senate Bill 478- "Junk fees" bill
“To-go” requires packaging, which costs more nowadays, especially because foam containers are verboten in many areas of the country. Dine in requires none of that packaging. As to “checked luggage”, certain items “disappear” from checked luggage frequently as it is checked-like electronic devices. ...

Re: Target Paid Membership Program?
Lowes and Home Depot seem to have prices that are not very good from what I see... across the store. This is why I'll always try to buy these home items at Wal Mart or anywhere else first... prices are often 30%+ lower for the exact same item. And why I am annoyed Target has such a lousy mix in this...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I haven't tested to see if Kroger assesses this cash back fee on Discover cash back too or if it is strictly on debit cards. Discover prohibits merchants from charging a fee for this service. While I don't like more fees, this is much cheaper than using a non-bank ATM, and low enough that people wo...

Re: CA Senate Bill 478- "Junk fees" bill
Previously the credit card networks prohibited surcharges and minimum purchase amounts. Credit card fees became legal due to the Durbin legislation. This politician also fought some years ago to get it so merchants could have a "minimum charge amount" if $10. Durbin is a Democrat politicia...

Re: Safeway wholesale in the Northwest?
Everson Market is part of that old ghost of Brown & Cole chain with the various banners like Food Pavilion, Cost Cutter etc. Their ad is a (very strong) URM ad so it is odd they'd be selling any Lucerne product. However that outfit had changed wholesalers enough times that nothing would surprise...

Alaska has had a program for years where Carrs serves as a wholesaler to very remote stores.
So Seattle Division may be using this elsewhere in its territories.
Probably getting this built up to be ready for C&S.

I have not been since 2020 and have not heard of any refreshing so I will presume everything is status quo. I also suspect that the entire complex may be "protected" status? It seems like at this point a store with that Lifestyle interior should have been remodeled by now. There are still...

Re: Ace Hardware?
That buyout of the Sparks Ace by Big R (a Do-it-Best licensee) was a real head-scratcher for me. I’m not quite sure what Big R saw in Sparks, other than a large store for sale. That store did better as Ace, although Big R did win Stihl dealer of the year for Nevada. Was it doing better as Ace? Ace ...

Re: Target Paid Membership Program?
Target appears to be re-entering the live plant business; there are live plant displays in front of the Reno Target. It is also forecasted to go to a low of 31 degrees in Reno tonight. Most other stores don't have many live plants yet; the grocery stores that typically throw a few racks outside don'...
